We are staying in Old Montreal, any food recommendations for dinner? I think we would like to try some dim sum, any recommendations? Or if not dim sum what can't we miss? Feb 26th Partner at conference and I am off to explore. I would like to explore the underground mall. 747 Rue du Square-Victoria. I am looking for shoes for my wedding. After this, I hope to grab a coffee and try a croissant. any recommendations for a shoe store that will carry size 5 heels? Feb 27th I think I will head to another mall Le Centre Eaton De Montreal. I heard Simons is an interesting store so I am hoping to check that one out. then back to Old Montreal to explore a possible bagel place? in the evening, we heard about something called Montreal en Lumiere I think this will be fun to explore! Feb 28th During the day I am not sure what to do. Maybe explore Little Italy. In the evening we will be heading to the after party at the conference my partner is going to. Feb 29th free day for both my partner and myself any fancy restaurants to celebrate our anniversary? We will be going to Aura in the Notre Dame Basilica in the evening. March 1st My partner really wants to go to the casino in Montreal. We are from a smaller city so it is considered the biggest one for us. We will have dinner there. I'm creating this list since I couldn't find any others online. Quebec is unique among the Canadian provinces in that a small number of bars are still allowed to have indoors smoking. These bars function using the grandfathering system, where the existing ones have been in operation before the indoor smoking ban was implemented; none can be opened up after. This means that once a bar shuts down, that's one less in existence.
These bars are almost exclusively cigar bars, but most do allow pipe smoking. Cigarette smoking is not permitted by law. I believe this list will be useful for American tourists looking for Cubans and don't want to smoke them on the curb.
For the sake of simplicity, I will be excluding the following from the list :
Hookah/shisha/waterpipe bars, since these keep being in operation regardless of the law, and are rarely shut down. The majority are also moving away from tobacco towards herbal smoke.
Bars/restaurants on Native reservations, since they are technically sovereign lands and don't follow Canadian or Quebec laws.
Restaurants or B&Ms with illegal outdoors smoking areas.
Bars will be organised by city. If I missed any, please add a comment about them. I also haven't been to them all, so give your reccomendations if you've been to some of them.
GATINEAU
Bacchus, 3 Boulevard du Casino (inside the Hilton) : small lounge adjacent to a bar. Small humidor, you're expected to BYO. No cutting fee if you buy a drink.
Good overall, but don't let the website fool you, it's practically a shoebox, can barely fit 20 people at max capacity. site
QUEBEC CITY

La Casa Del Habano, 1434 Sherbrooke St West : Large cigar shop with small smoking room and bar. Very Large walk-in humidor. No BYO, you must buy there.
I included the cutting fees since it may be cheaper to buy at different tobacconists or souvenir shops and bring them to smoking bars, or if you decide to bring your own 'cause cigars are too fucking expensive in Canada.
