Threats and Security

The Department of Homeland Security released a warning that the nation continues to be threatened by “violent domestic extremists...emboldened” by the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol. The bulletin is a noticeable departure from those issued by the Trump administration, which consistently sought to downplay the danger posed by right-wing agitators.

“Information suggests that some ideologically-motivated violent extremists with objections to the exercise of governmental authority and the presidential transition, as well as other perceived grievances fueled by false narratives, could continue to mobilize to incite or commit violence... Long-standing racial and ethnic tension—including opposition to immigration—has driven [domestic violent extremist] attacks, including a 2019 shooting in El Paso, Texas that killed 23 people. DHS is concerned these same drivers to violence will remain through early 2021…

Lawmakers have continued to face threats since Biden’s inauguration, mainly posted online and including plots to attack Congressional members during travel to and from the Capitol during the impeachment trial. A group of 32 lawmakers sent a letter to House Speaker Pelosi and Minority Leader McCarthy on Wednesday requesting more flexibility for using their congressional allowances to further secure their district offices. The letter, led by Rep Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ) and Dean Phillips (D-MN), was also signed by Rep. Fred Upton of Michigan, one of the 10 Republicans who voted to impeach Trump a second time.

"Most Members spend the majority of their time in their Congressional Districts where security is often sparse," the lawmakers write. "Protecting Members in their District is much harder because local law enforcement agencies are stretched and limited, and often don’t have sufficient staffing or money to provide regular protection to Members."

On Friday, acting House Sergeant at Arms Timothy Blodgett advised lawmakers that he created an online portal for House members to make local law enforcement aware of their travel. The Capitol Police will also maintain an increased presence at D.C.-area airports and train stations during times lawmakers travel.

The Defense Department committed approximately 5,000 National Guard troops to remain in D.C. for the foreseeable future. Concurrently, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser has requested 500 D.C. National Guard members remain through March 12 for the upcoming impeachment trial. She asked for the troops to be unarmed but equipped with crowd control measures like shields and batons.

Numerous states have ordered their state’s contingent of National Guard back from D.C., including those from Florida, Texas, and Utah. Gov. DeSantis (R-FL) and Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX) complained that the troops were vetted prior to the inauguration, with the former calling it “totally inappropriate” and “disrespectful.”

Security officials are also concerned about potential unrest on or around March 4, which is when QAnon conspiracists believe Trump will be inaugurated again. “We are not going to allow any surprises again,” said one Guard member. Others are questioning why their deployments were extended, complaining about the lack of information and the unusual predicament of guarding the Capitol as military members.
Acting chief of the U.S. Capitol Police Yogananda Pittman testified before the House Appropriations Committee on Tuesday, apologizing for the “failings” that contributed to the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol. She cited miscommunication, a lack of less-than-lethal weapons, and insufficient manpower. Others who testified at the closed-door hearing included acting D.C. police chief Robert J. Contee III, former Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy, D.C. National Guard Maj. Gen. William Walker, and various law enforcement representatives.

Contee estimated that 850 D.C. police officers were deployed to the Capitol, with 250 assigned to the surrounding area, costing about $8.8 million in the week after the insurrection.
Contee said he was “stunned at the tepid response from Department of the Army, which was reluctant to send the D.C. National Guard to the Capitol” that day.
McCarthy blamed the slow approval of National Guard backup on the lack of intelligence beforehand. “The response time and effectiveness could be greatly improved with a clear, predetermined command and control structure, authorities, rehearsals and integrated plans, and a shared understanding of intelligence assessments of the threat,” McCarthy said.
Acting House sergeant at arms Timothy Blodgett admitted that “there was a failure of preparation,” but strangely boasted that due to the actions of his office and Capitol Police, “every Member and House staff went home without death or serious injury.” Rep. Mike Quigley (D-IL) responded after the hearing, saying in an interview that no dead or maimed lawmakers was “a pretty low bar.”

In an interview earlier this week, D.C. National Guard Maj. Gen. William Walker said that Pentagon officials restricted his authority to act autonomously prior to the Jan. 6 attack. The restrictions placed on Walker delayed the arrival of troops to assist Capitol officers. Walker was unable to even call up the 40 soldiers on standby without approval from former Army secretary Ryan McCarthy and former acting defense secretary Christopher C. Miller.

Had he not been restricted, Walker said he could have dispatched members of the D.C. Guard sooner. Asked how quickly troops could have reached the Capitol, which is two miles from the D.C. Guard headquarters at the Armory, Walker said, “With all deliberate speed — I mean, they’re right down the street.”

However, Walker also stated that former Chief of Capitol Police Steven Sund failed to submit a formal request for assistance:

“All he said was, ‘If I call you, will you be able to help?’ ” Walker said. “And I said, ‘Yes, but I need permission. So send a formal request,’ and I never got it, until after the fact.”
The request came, but only at 1:49 p.m. the day of the attempted insurrection. Sund called Walker to say rioters were about to breach the building and the Capitol Police would soon request urgent backup.

“I told him I had to get permission from the secretary of the Army and I would send him all available guardsmen but as soon as I got permission to do so,” Walker said. “I sent a message to the leadership of the Army, letting them know the request that I had received from Chief Sund.”

Extremists involvement

Three members of the Oath Keepers were indicted on a multitude of charges including conspiracy, obstructing an official proceeding, destruction of government property, and unlawful entry on restricted building or grounds. The DOJ’s case is the first evidence of planning among a militia group ahead of the Jan. 6 attack to be filed in court.
Jessica Watkins, 38 from Ohio, Donovan Ray Crowl, 50 from Ohio, and Thomas Caldwell, 65 from Virginia, allegedly began soliciting recruits and coordinating the invasion of the Capitol in November. All three are former military. Caldwell, a retired Navy lieutenant commander, acted as a leader of the operation and organized most of the logistics involved in training and bussing dozens of recruits to D.C. According to the indictment, he recommended a particular hotel because it offered a good base to “hunt at night.”

In a 15-page indictment unsealed Wednesday, prosecutors revealed new allegations, accusing Watkins of contacting recruits on Nov. 9, six days after the election, for a “Basic Training” camp outside Columbus, Ohio, in early January so they would be “fighting fit by innaugeration [sic].” ...Crowl, a former Marine mechanic, attended a training camp in December in North Carolina, while Caldwell hosted Watkins in Northern Virginia

During the insurrection, the three joined other Oath Keepers in communicating on the walkie-talkie app Zello. The FBI obtained recordings of some of the transmissions, such as Watkins stating, “We have a good group. We have about 30-40 of us. We are sticking together and sticking to the plan.”

Watkins posted photos of herself, and with Crowl, on her Parler account and captioned a photo by stating, “Me before forcing entry into the Capitol Building. #stopthesteal2 #stormthecapitol #oathkeepers #ohiomilitia.” Subsequently, she posted a video of herself inside the Capitol captioned, “Yeah. We stormed the Capitol today. Teargassed, the whole, 9. Pushed our way into the Rotunda. Made it into the Senate even. The news is lying (even Fox) about the Historical Events we created today.”

A New York Times investigation has visually located ten other Oath Keepers who accompanied Crowl and Watkins into the Capitol building on Jan. 6. The group can be seen on video from the day marching up the stairs in a military-esque line. Furthermore, following the insurrection, all ten “gathered around the Oath Keepers’ leader, Stewart Rhodes, just 70 feet from the building.”

The Justice Department also indicted two Proud Boys members with conspiracy to interfere with law enforcement, civil disorder, unlawfully entering restricted buildings, and disorderly conduct. Unlike his co-defendant William Pepe (31 y.o. From NY), Dominic Pezzola (43 y.o. From NY) faces a slew of other charges including robbery of personal property of the United States, assaulting or resisting officers, destruction of government property, and physical violence.

It is alleged that Pezzola and Pepe took...actions to remove temporary metal barricades erected by the Capitol Police for the purpose of controlling access to the Capitol Grounds... It is further alleged that Pezzola confronted a Capitol Police officer attempting to control the crowd and ripped away the officer’s riot shield, while the officer was physically engaging with individuals who had gathered unlawfully in the west plaza of the Capitol. Pezzola can be seen on video that has been widely distributed, using that riot shield to smash a window at the U.S. Capitol.

After locating and arresting Pezzola, FBI agents searched his home. They found a thumb drive containing “detailed instructions for making homemade firearms, poisons, and/or explosives.” Prosecutors are asking the court to keep Pezzola in detention until trial, citing his “willingness to attempt to go off the grid” and the “serious danger” he poses to the community.

According to an analysis by CNN, at least eight rioters charged so far are affiliated with the Proud Boys. It is likely more will be charged as investigations develop.

Republican connections

Republican members of Congress have their own links to extremist groups who took part in the insurrection.
According to the New York Times, Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ) visited a chapter of the Oath Keepers “a few years” ago and told the group that we’re already in the midst of a civil war, “we just haven’t started shooting at each other yet.” The leader of Stop the Steal claimed Gosar and fellow Arizona Republican Rep. Andy Biggs helped plan and organize Trump’s Jan. 6 rally. Both Gosar and Biggs reportedly sought pardons for their roles in the insurrection from Trump but did not receive them.
Freshman Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) has a history of associating with the Three Percenters, which also had members present in the Capitol on Jan. 6. One of those charged last week, Robert Gieswein, runs a paramilitary training group in Boebert’s home state.

Before the attack, Gieswein gave a media interview in which he echoed anti-Semitic conspiracy theories, the affidavit said, and said his message to Congress was “that they need to get the corrupt politicians out of office. Pelosi, the Clintons . . . every single one of them, Biden, Kamala.”

Another Three Percenter from Texas, Guy Reffitt, was arrested for his part in storming the Capitol - after he allegedly threatened to shoot his children if they turned him in. “If you turn me in, you’re a traitor and you know what happens to traitors … traitors get shot,” his wife recounted to FBI agents.
In December 2019, Boebert posed with members of the Three Percenters in front of the Colorado state Capitol. The year before, Gieswein himself posed in front of Boebert’s Shooters Grill holding a rifle with others flashing the Three Percenters hand gesture. A Colorado chapter of the extremist group even provided security for a campaign event in July 2020, claiming her campaign invited them.
Following the assault on the Michigan capitol by in 2020, Boebert was asked about her thoughts on citizens carrying guns while protesting government actions:

Reporter: Gun-toting militia members in Michigan just stormed the state capitol (on April 30) and unsuccessfully demanded access to the floor of the legislature. Some lawmakers said they were intimidated by the show of firepower. Was that appropriate?

In a preview of events to come, Boebert replied “I don’t see why they’re not allowed to” enter a “public building like that with a firearm.”
More recently, Boebert and other Republicans have made a spectacle over the newly-installed metal detectors to enter the House floor. Some House Republicans threw temper tantrums and berated the very Capitol Police officers who had protected them during the insurrection just days earlier.

“Horse shit!” shouted Rep. Rodney Davis (R-Ill.). “Bullshit!”
“You are creating a problem you do not understand the ramifications of!” Rep. Steve Womack (R-Ark.) warned Capitol Police officers.
“You can’t stop me, I’m on my way to a vote,” said Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas), walking around the magnetometer outside the House chamber.
Rep. Russ Fulcher (R-Idaho) just pushed his way through. He went through the metal detector and set it off, shoved an officer out of his way and walked into the House.

Huffington Post’s Matt Fuller made note of the lawmakers who disregarded the new security measures: Reps. Randy Weber (Texas), Richard Hudson (N.C.), Ralph Norman (S.C.), Scott Perry (Pa.), Jeff Duncan (S.C.), Bob Gibbs (Ohio), Bob Latta (Ohio), Garret Graves (La.), Markwayne Mullin (Okla.), Virginia Foxx (N.C.), Paul Gosar (Ariz.), Bill Huizenga (Mich.), Alex Mooney (W.Va.), Larry Bucshon (Ind.), Debbie Lesko (Ariz.), and Rep. Lauren Boebert (Colo.).
Boebert went a step farther than others, engineering a standoff with guards asking to check her handbag for weapons before entering the building. It is not clear if her bag was ultimately searched but she was allowed entry. She later tweeted: “I am legally permitted to carry my firearm in Washington, D.C., and within the Capitol complex. Metal detectors outside of the House would not have stopped the violence we saw last week — it’s just another political stunt by Speaker (Nancy) Pelosi.”
Following the Republican insubordination, Speaker Pelosi instituted a new rule to impose fines - $5,000 fine for a first offense and $10,000 fine for a second - on lawmakers who refuse to pass through the metal detectors.
While firearms are banned on the House floor, a 1967 regulation exempts members of Congress from a federal law prohibiting guns on the Capitol grounds. Boebert has vociferously objected to the House rule, declaring two days before the insurrection that she “will carry [her] firearm in D.C. and in Congress” to stand up for Second Amendment rights.
It is not known if she ever followed through with carrying a gun onto the House floor in violation of the rules. We do know, however, that at least one Republican member implied he was armed on the floor and at least one attempted to bring a gun through the metal detectors.
Freshman Rep. Madison Cawthorne (R-NC) told a local news outlet that he “was armed” during the insurrection while on the House floor. Hours earlier, Cawthorne spoke to the crowd that rioted in support of Donald Trump: "My friends, I encourage you, continue to make your voice heard, because, do we love Donald Trump?" Cawthorn said.
During the second day of metal detectors in the House, Rep. Andy Harris (R-MD) set off the alarms while trying to enter with a concealed gun on his side. Capitol Police did not permit him entry, so Harris tried to persuade fellow Republica Rep. John Katko of New York to take the gun from him. Katko refused, telling Harris he didn’t have a license to carry a gun. Ultimately, Harris left and returned to successfully pass through the detectors.

The Capitol Police are investigating the incident. Additionally, government watchdog The Campaign for Accountability requested a federal investigation into whether Harris broke the law by possessing a weapon not registered in D.C. A spokesperson for Harris said the congressman has a Maryland handgun permit, but did not say if he has registered a gun in D.C.

On Thursday, Rep. Jared Huffman (D-CA) and Rep. Jackie Speier (D-CA) filed legislation to ban members from carrying guns on Capitol grounds, even in their offices. Speier said the No Congressional Gun Loophole Act is necessary because “the existing exemption for Representatives increases the risk of gun violence for Members, staff, and the public.”

Marjorie Taylor Greene

And now we get to freshman Rep. Majorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), who really could take up an entire post. I’ll keep each point short and provide links for further information.
Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO) announced that she is moving her office after a heated altercation with Marjorie Taylor Greene (hereafter referred to as “MTG”) apparently sparked by the latter’s refusal to wear a mask in the Capitol. "A maskless Marjorie Taylor Greene & her staff berated me in a hallway. She targeted me & others on social media. I'm moving my office away from hers for my team's safety" Bush tweeted Friday.

Bush: "I moved my office because I'm here to do a job for the people of St. Louis. They deserve that. And what I cannot do is continue to look over my shoulder wondering if a white supremacist in Congress by the name of Marjorie Taylor Greene or anyone else, cause there are others, that they are doing something or conspiring against us."

In videos published during her campaign - but recorded in years prior - MTG espouses a multitude of racist ideas:

[She] suggested that Muslims do not belong in government; thinks black people “are held slaves to the Democratic Party”; called George Soros, a Jewish Democratic megadonor, a Nazi; and said she would feel “proud” to see a Confederate monument if she were black because it symbolizes progress made since the Civil War.

In 2019, MTG promoted a conspiracy theory that Ruth Bader Ginsburg had been replaced by a body double in public - part of a QAnon conspiracy that RBG was secretly/dead or incapacitated.
In social media posts from 2018 and 2019, MTG interacted with others calling for the deaths of prominent Democrats, including Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. In Jan. 2019, she liked a Facebook comment that said "a bullet to the head would be quicker" to remove House Speaker Pelosi from office.
MTG wrote on Facebook that the Camp Fire - California’s deadliest and most destructive wildfire - was caused by “lasers” from “space solar generators” run by the Rothschilds.
In 2018, MTG endorsed a deranged conspiracy from the fringes of QAnon that Hillary Clinton murdered a child during a satanic ritual.
MTG called both the Parkland School shooting and Sandy Hook massacre “false flag” operations intended to tighten gun control. She later went on to attack Parkland survivor David Hogg, calling him a coward.
Within a month of the first Q post on 4chan in 2017, MTG began posting videos calling him a “patriot” and publishing articles endorsing the conspiracy.
In 2017, MTG wrote an article and posted a video explaining that she believed the Las Vegas mass shooting was a government-orchestrated plan to strip away Second Amendment rights.

If your driver's license expires, are you no longer covered by your car insurance? I'm in NC and we're currently under a stay at home order. My driver's license is set to expire soon but given covid rates in my area, I'm not willing to go in person to the DMV until things are safer and unfortunately, since my address has changed, I can't renew my license online. A provision on the Coronavirus Relief Act gives everyone a grace period until 30 days after the state of emergency is lifted, so I'm not worried about fines or fees, but I do wonder if I'd be in trouble if I got into an accident? Can my claim be denied if my license is expired? Or does the law mean it actually isn't expired?

Issue: Virginia is not permitting me to renew my driver's license because of information provided to the National Driver Register by North Carolina indicating my driving privileges in their state have been revoked. I have successfully renewed my VA driver's license every time it has come due for renewal since 1998 with no issues, until now.
Background: In 1998, I received a traffic ticket in Guilford County, NC. I went to court, went to traffic school, went back to court, then paid my fine and court costs in 1999 after the case was decided. Traced that as the reason for the NDR placement, and the Guilford County Superior Court clerk's office told me today that their records show I failed to pay the fine and court costs from 1999, and that it's up to me to prove otherwise.
My grump: I can afford to pay them again (plus their late fee plus the DMV fee required to clear it with the NDR), but this is a fait accompli. It's not reasonable to expect that someone retains a money order stub for a traffic ticket for over 20 years. I obviously can't apply this intent to what they're doing, but it really feels like they are not only scrambling to collect on old outstandings still on their books as well as generating even more income with DMV reinstatement fees because they know they have people over a barrel - pay up or no more driving in the 45 states part of the Driver's License Compact.
My question is: Is there anything in NC law that speaks to how long they can pursue an old debt or by when they lose their rights to report me to the NDR? Or any sort of legit recourse attempts available other than to succumb and just pay them? I've looked online and can't find anything on this that quite fits. They have not actively pursued collecting - I've received no notifications of any kind either back then or more recently - so that may not be the right language to use, but hopefully yall get what I mean.

Sorry if this feels like it’s been asked a ton- I searched the sub and online and can’t seem to find an answer for my question specifically.
So, I just moved back to NC after being in TX for the past 3 years, and I’m trying to register to vote. I noticed on the voter registration form, there is a “NC Driver’s License” section, but one for other state licenses. Do I put mine anyways?
Do I need to get an NC license before I can register to vote? I’ve looked on the DMV website and the earliest I can get an appointment is mid-October. Which leads me to my next question.. when I go to select my appointment type, the options are “Driver License-First Time”, “Driver License Duplicate”, and “Driver License Renewal”. Which of these applies to getting an out of state license transferred? Would it be the ‘First Time’ one, or is that just applying to brand new drivers?

I live in South Dakota (>6 months per year) and I winter in North Carolina in a normal year. Unfortunately, 2020 is not normal. This year I am gong to have to return to NC at the end of August to help provide child care for my grandkids due to Covid.
Unfortunately, my driver's license expires in March, and I won't be able to return to SD until May. SD has a law that says you can't renew your license more than 180 days in advance, and you can only renew online once (I have already renewed online the last time, so I'm not eligible.) I called the DMV here in SD and they said there's nothing I can do, I'm out of luck. I will be without a driver's license until I return. There's a chance that they will extend the renewal time due to the virus-they have already done that for people who's licenses expire in 2020, extending them until December, but I can't count on that.
I can avoid driving after my birthday in March while I'm still in NC, but making my wife drive all the way back to SD in May without me being able to help her would be a hardship.
How much trouble will I be in if I get stopped by the police with a DL expired two months previously if I tell them I'm returning to get my license? Can you guys think of any other alternatives? How long after your birthday is your SD DL good for? Is there any way to request a temporary extension?

My license expired in May 2020 and because of the current situation we all find ourselves in I have not gone to the dmv to get it renewed/honestly I keep forgetting about it. I moved about 3 years ago (within the same city) and never bothered to get a new license with my updated address. Normally you can renew your license online in NC unless you need to update address or a few other exceptions. In those cases you have to go to the dmv in person and because of Covid-19 you must schedule an appointment. Well I’ve looked at available time slots at my city’s dmv and theres none available until late August and checking the surrounding area dmv’s the soonest I could get an appointment is August 14 at a dmv that’s an hour and forty five minutes away. So I was thinking about just going ahead and renewing my license with the address that’s listed on my current ID and updating it later if I need to. Any potential issues there?

Hey so with the DMV reverting to appointment only for in person license renewals, I've been trying to see if my Husband is eligible for the online renewal service. He is a Green card holder, ( Permanent Resident) but the NC DMV website has limited and contradictory information regarding if he is eligible for online renewals like I am. Can anyone help me find solid info for this? Thank you.

Every vote counts this election, even if you live in a red state, as I do.
If Joe Biden is elected and if at least four seats are flipped to the Democrats, the repairs to this nation and it’s people can begin.
Mail-in voting is the key to turning out more votes, but it is going to take planning on behalf of everyone to get those ballots in on time. If you are interested in voting by mail, in most states, you will have to request ballots be mailed to you. Requesting mail ballots information can be found by visiting your local County election website.
I live in northwest Georgia. I have voted by mail for years, as I am disabled, and because I am disabled, I only have to request one time to have every relative ballot sent to me for an entire election year, including primary, runoff, special, and final election ballots. Otherwise, I would have to request each ballot event separately.
Georgia amazingly, despite it’s love and devotion by it’s leaders to Trump, has decided to allow any and all registered voters to vote by mail, with no excuses demanded, despite being a red state and governed by a former Secretary of State who did everything he could to fix an election that he did win, barely.
So, you can download a ballot request in Georgia up to 180 days before an electoral date. The ballot request must be faxed or mailed to the county elections office. No fax machine? No problem. I have never failed to receive a ballot requested.

Ballots in my county are mailed out quite early and I make sure to mail it back in almost as fast as I get them. Unfortunately, in Georgia, the voter must affix the return postage for the ballot and they are very picky about following every instruction, including putting the ballot in a special envelope inside the return envelope, etc. - and signing a statement, blah blah blah. No postage, if required, rejected. No signature for comparison? Rejected.
So...be sure to follow those directions, to make your vote count!
Now...what is it looking like, pertaining to the states that are going to allow voting by mail?
Here’s a quick rundown;
If you live in the following FIVE states, you likely are very familiar with mail-in voting, because ballots are automatically mailed to every registered voters;
CA, CO, NJ, NV, AND UT
Thus, the list has grown to nine states that will automatically send out ballots to every registered voter;
CA, CO, DC, HI, NJ, NV, OR, UT, VT, AND WA
These NINE states (and DC) will automatically send out mail-in ballot REQUESTS to every registered voter;
CT, DE, IL, IA, MA, MD, NM, OH, AND WI
In the following TWENTY-FIVE states, you may, all by your lonesome, request an application for an absentee ballot, citing the Covid-19 virus, or it may be that the rules have been relaxed so that no reason for requesting a ballot is required;
AL, AK, AR, AZ, FL, GA, ID, KS, KY, ME, MI, MO, MN, MT, NC, ND NE, NH, OK, PA, RI, SD, VA, WV, AND WY
And finally, and unfortunately, if you reside in the following states, Covid-19 is not a valid reason for requesting an absentee ballot, thus forcing their residents to vote in person, unless something changes VERY soon;
IN, LA, MS, NY, SC, TN, AND TX
I cannot imagine why New York is on that last list. That is a blue state.

Real progress will come whenever we can get on our computers or phones and securely log onto a voting website, satisfactorily identify ourselves, and cast our votes. That can be done easily and with present day technology. How do I know it? I recently renewed my driver’s license and my auto registrations online. My identity was easy to verify and it was required for both.

USAA Auto Insurance Policy Change - Desperate for Help - Military Circumstance
For background: I’m in the military, was stationed at Seymour Johnson AFB NC and received orders to Schriever AFB CO. My wife and and I agreed to do a DITY (Do it yourself) move driving across the states from NC to CO. I have been with USAA for 7 years and called to ask advice on coverage due to the drive, new state, and the weather extremism’s in CO.
The USAA representative said to carry Colorado insurance, and that it will cover me in the event I needed it during the drive. I carry full coverage on two vehicles which total price under NC; $144.57 and with the exact same coverage under CO: $275.67
July 27th we begin our journey and arrive in Colorado on the 29th. My wife and I settle in, she is a local elementary teacher and we begin working.
Oct 2nd we leave for our honeymoon and do not return until Oct 18, which I return to mail from the NC dmv.
The mail states that are NC license plates are suspended and that we owe over $250 in penalties for having a lapse in insurance coverage.
With the two hour time difference and working in a restricted area I can only call at 5 am MST to reach the DMV which was attempted 4 times in Oct from the 22nd - 28th. Then eventually being told that I need to contact the NC insurance commissioners office which was attempted from Nov 1st -16th.
Commissioners office stated this is a common problem and that if we wanted to keep our vehicles registered in NC then USAA would need to cancel the policy, and back date the previous on to the same date it started in July 27th.
Contact USAA on Nov 22nd and begin this process. It took 4 hours the first phone a call, but the agent put in a request for this.
One week goes by, I return another call with another 4 hours of time with a new service rep to start the process again.
Two weeks go by and I have contacted them three times for status updates totaling over 5 additional hours in communication to no avail.
I call December 22nd for a status update to reach another representative who says the original order was never placed and they will place it again though they have journal entries stating previous contact and requests.
Jan 7th I contact again for an update and receive another new support personnel who ensures me they will take care of it. They change the policy back to NC but can only back date it to Sep 17th and it will require another 30 days to back date.
My registration in both vehicles die Dec 30. At this point my wife and I are commuting to work with vehicles that have dead license plates and dead registrations. Jan 22nd I call for another update and there is nothing new, and the rep puts a rush order on costing me another 2 hours of time.
Jan 28th I call again to find out the DMV denied an SF 1 form that I require to renew registration online due to the lapse in coverage between July 27th and Sep 17th. New representative works night shift assures me they can help and initiates the entire process again. 4 hours in time.
Feb 5th DMV has upped the penalty by $15 per vehicles per month. Receive a ticket for parking in town with dead registration $110.
Feb 8th contact USAA for another update with nothing new. Representative can see all the work being done and says it will require 30 days to complete. 1 additional hour

Now we are in March, and I have had dead plates and Regustration for almost six months, USAA has been unresponsive and unhelpful. I now have paid the 110 dead registration fee but am commuting with dead plates and registration daily. The fees for the plates are over $400 and the late registration feees will be over $200.
My wife and I intend on returning to NC in two years which is why we wanted to keep the vehicles and plates registered there and if we weren’t instructed by our insurance agent to switch we would’ve kept the same insurance policy.
I have exhausted everything I have had in terms of patience and mental capacity to this issue. I have followed every single step that has been given to me and I want to know if I can pursue legal action in any capacity for this?

So I turn 21 in early March. I'm pretty sure this is standard for NC licenses, but my license expires on my 21st birthday. I'm going to college out of state so I won't be able to get my new license on my birthday. I tried to renew my license online, but the nice lady on the DMV phone said that I need to come in person because switching from the under-21 license to the over-21 license is technically a new license(???) and not a renewal. I have a long weekend coming up in late February, so I figured I would just fly home to see the family and go by the DMV. I'm about to buy my plane ticket, but I realized I'm not sure if I can get my new license before I actually turn 21. If I do go home over that break, it'd be 2 weeks before I turn 21. Would I be able to get my new license then? The DMV website isn't giving me anything helpful and I don't want to put off buying the ticket by waiting until tomorrow and calling the DMV back.
TLDR: can I get my over-21 license two weeks before I actually turn 21?

It's a new season of wrestling on TV, with good and bad news to go around. For starters, Raw ended up being pushed back 2 hours due to the U.S. Open but even though it aired late at night and Nitro was airing unopposed in its normal time slot, Raw still killed them in the ratings. Without competition, Nitro did its best ratings in months (even though they still lost) but they also put on a terrible show, which Dave thinks is nothing short of mind-boggling. This was WCW's best chance to try to win back some viewers and they totally shat the bed by presenting a borderline unwatchable Nitro. Even other wrestlers in the WCW locker room were said to be shaking their heads in disbelief that they could fumble the ball this badly. Thursday also featured the debut of WWF's new show Smackdown which was basically just Raw with a new set. The ratings for it were decent but both WWF and UPN were slightly disappointed that they weren't higher, especially since UPN is 100% relying on Smackdown to save the fledgling network. WCW Thunder, which did absolutely nothing to try to counter against the debut of Smackdown airing at the same time, did its lowest rating ever and the numbers will likely drop more in future weeks as Smackdown establishes itself.
After the terrible Toledo taping that was supposed to be the debut of ECW on TNN, Paul Heyman decided against airing most of the footage and instead taped 2 new hours from Queens, NY. The show was in front of a rabid audience that was capped off with Raven making his return to ECW, to arguably one of the loudest pops in ECW history, to win the tag titles from the Dudleys along with longtime enemy Tommy Dreamer (more on Raven in a bit). Following the taping, the locker room emptied out to send off the Dudleys, who had their last match with the company and are WWF-bound. Some of the footage from Toledo, along with matches from the Queens taping, will comprise the next couple of episodes of ECW on TNN.

As for the debut episode of ECW on TNN....it was basically a clip-show. Paul Heyman put together a highlight show of ECW matches and moments to introduce fans to the new product. It didn't go well. The debut episode did a 0.94 rating which isn't great news. TNN was selling ads for the show based on a presumed 1.9 rating and were publicly predicting at least a 2.0 for the debut. Everybody was getting their hopes up in advance, with people openly predicting they would soon surpass Nitro's falling ratings. ECW was the highest rated show on Friday night for TNN but in the grand scheme of things, that doesn't mean much to TNN given the money invested and expectations they have for it. RollerJam debuted earlier this year in the same time slot and did a 1.7 rating and even that was considered a disappointment, so ECW debuting with a 0.94 is even more so. The good news is that ECW has a loyal fanbase that they brought with them to TNN so the ratings probably won't be much lower than that, so there's really nowhere to go but up. But they'll have to go up significantly before TNN is happy with it.
Dr. Joel Hackett, an Indianapolis doctor, had his medical license suspended and is under investigation by state police on drug distribution charges. The doctor is known to have connections with many within the wrestling business and was specifically known for having prescribed drugs to Brian Pillman and Louie Spicolli (the Somas that Spicolli OD'd on were prescribed by Dr. Hackett). This obviously brings up comparisons to the Dr. Zahorian investigation back in 1991 that blew open the steroid scandal of the early 90s. Once again, we have a doctor over-prescribing controlled substances to famous wrestlers who don't necessarily have a medical need and the fact that many in the business know about him. WWF officials claim that they were aware of Dr. Hackett and had banned him from being backstage at their shows as far back as 1995 but did admit that a couple of their wrestlers may have been in contact with Dr. Hackett within the last few months. Following the death of Brian Pillman in 1997, WWF sent letters to several doctors that were known to be prescribing drugs that they were no longer allowed backstage at events. Following this, Hackett, who is black, claimed racial discrimination and threatened to sue. In turn, WWF handed over documents relating to Hackett to the DEA and the AMA. But those groups apparently never acted on the evidence WWF gave them. After learning that wrestlers were still seeing Hackett outside of the company, WWF sent a memo to all the wrestlers telling them to avoid dealing with him back in 1997. Some wrestlers protested, upset that WWF was trying to tell them what personal doctors they were allowed to see. Although he was banned from the locker room, Hackett was still getting free comped tickets to shows from wrestlers he was friends with so then WWF banned him from getting comped tickets. Hackett was no stranger in WCW either, and even after Spicolli's death, several top-money WCW wrestlers were known to fly Hackett in to major events and he would be backstage there as well.
Documents filed with the Indiana medical board note that Dr. Hackett is being investigated for several things, including failure to perform adequate medical exams before writing prescriptions, failure to document medical need for prescriptions, knowingly prescribing drugs to a wrestler that he knew was illegally distributing them, and knowingly prescribing drugs to wrestlers he knew were addicted to them. As mentioned, WWF became aware of Hackett several years ago (just after the McMahon trial) when several wrestlers failed drug tests, but were able to provide valid prescriptions. As per WWF's drug policy at the time, there wasn't much they could do about the wrestlers seeing this doctor, but they were aware that it was becoming a major problem, particularly the use of Somas. It got even more alarming when Louie Spicolli overdosed while still working for the WWF and nearly died, which led to WWF releasing him soon after. So to be fair, in this case, it does seem like WWF did try to put a stop to this guy years ago.
NJPW set an outdoor-attendance record of 48,000 people for a Jingu Stadium show headlined by Great Muta vs. Great Nita in an exploding barbed wire match. Of course, Great Nita is just Atsushi Onita doing a Muta-clone gimmick. There was a lot of concern about this show, as mentioned last week, when Nobuhiko Takada backed out at the last minute. But they managed to sell out the stadium anyway. The show was said to be disappointing but hey, they got your money already, so tough shit.

For the second time this year, Toshiaki Kawada suffered an injury that will require him to be out of action for several months. Kawada will require surgery to repair broken bones around his eye and isn't expected back until December. It's a big blow to AJPW, since he was scheduled to headline a show against Vader this week. It's the second time a Kawada vs. Vader match had to be scrapped due to Kawada being injured. To save the show, Misawa will wrestle twice, doing his own previously scheduled match and then working later in the night in the main event against Vader.
Jesse Ventura is at war with the media in Minnesota over their criticism of his participation in Summerslam. What?! A thin-skinned celebrity-politician doesn't take media criticism well? Perish the thought. Anyway, Ventura is basically lashing out at all the local media outlets, refusing to grant interviews, calling them names, and urging people to cancel their subscriptions to local newspapers that have criticized him.
ABC's Nightline aired a story on hardcore wrestling. Dave found it weird to see no-name indie wrestlers doing bad chairshots in front of 50 people being treated as if it's a major news story. The Nightline people went to shows by 2 virtually unknown promotions (Combat Zone Wrestling and Jersey All Pro Wrestling), with Ted Koppel interviewing these guys. The story focused on the usual issue of whether this is appropriate for kids. Dave says that's a fair question to ask, and there's a newsworthy story there, but for the Nightline people to focus on companies that aren't even a blip on the pro wrestling radar was weird. When a major network like ABC is investigating wrestling and its effect on kids, one would think they would focus on WWF, WCW, and ECW. Companies like CZW have no place in this conversation because almost nobody has even heard of CZW before (can't find video of this but CZW and JAPW are going to have a lot of problems in the next year with the state of New Jersey trying to shut them down).
Dave talks about how Manabu Nakanishi recently won the G1 tournament, with the idea being to make him a new top star. The problem is, Nakanishi just doesn't really have it and the fans see it. He tries hard but something about him just doesn't click with the fans. Dave also points out how this is a perfect example of the differences between NJPW and WCW. In NJPW, they realize that they need to create new stars because all their current headliners are in their mid-30s, and they're trying to create new stars but none of the young guys are really ready yet. Meanwhile, in WCW, all their headliners are over 40, some are pushing 50, and they have several young guys who are ready to be the new top stars, but WCW actively holds them down instead of trying to get them over to that next level.
Psicosis faced Rey Mistero Sr. in a hair vs. mask match in Tijuana last week, with Psicosis losing the match and his mask. It ended with Juventud Gerrera turning on Psicosis to cost him the match, generating monster heel heat that you rarely see these days. Psicosis unmasked and the crowd chanted his name after the match. Him losing his mask here was only for Mexico. In the U.S., Psicosis is expected to lose his mask again on WCW TV soon.

At a recent Michinoku Pro show, American indie wrestler Christopher Daniels wrestled under a mask under the name Curry Man.
There is a PPV being planned for October called Heroes of Wrestling that will feature lots of names from the past like Jake Roberts, Jim Neidhart, King Kong Bundy, Yokozuna, Jimmy Snuka, and others (oh man, what a legendary clusterfuck this one turns out to be).
Down in Power Pro Wrestling, Dave says that Kurt Angle has been looking really impressive in the ring, especially considering how new he still is. With his current babyface character, Dave thinks he would already be a surefire headliner in the 70s or 80s. But it's the 90s and he's kinda bland on promos so who knows if he'll be able to get over on the big stage here in America. If he was in Japan, Dave thinks he would be an instant superstar.
Pride, the MMA company in Japan, contacted the WWF this week looking for wrestlers who could compete at an upcoming event. They were interested in Steve Williams (who is still under contract) and Steve Blackman. But when WWF was told that the fights would be legit shoots, they pretty much shot it down instantly, because they learned their lesson from Brawl For All.
Raven has signed a 1-year deal with ECW after being given a conditional release from WCW. Raven was making about $275,000 per year in WCW and his ECW deal is believed to be around $150,000 a year. So needless to say, he took a drastic pay cut to get out of WCW. Raven has made no secret that his plan is to stay with ECW for a year while the remainder of his WCW deal runs out, and then jump to the WWF.
Paul Heyman was also extremely interested in bringing in Billy Kidman. But Kidman still has 3 years left on his WCW contract and Bischoff only offered him the same conditional release that he gave Raven. Which meant Kidman couldn't go to WWF. He could have accepted it and gone to ECW. But Kidman makes around $300,000 in WCW and he wasn't willing to take a massive paycut to spend the next 3 years in ECW. So he's staying put in WCW for now, even though it's no secret he wants out. Raven also tried to get Konnan to come to ECW, but Heyman wasn't that interested in him and Konnan also didn't want to take the paycut.
Heyman is still negotiating with AJPW and has interest in bringing in Maunakea Mossman, Vader, and Kenta Kobashi. There's no guarantee any of those will happen, but he's trying (I don't believe any of those pan out).
On the ECW Hotline, they teased that Ultimate Warrior was interested in coming to ECW. That got further confirmed when Warrior himself went online on his website and wrote a post confirming that he was interested in ECW. But Dave doesn't think it's ever going to happen because Warrior's a fucking nutcase and ECW could never afford what he'd want (indeed, this never happens).
Shane Douglas is claiming ECW owes him $140,000 and is threatening to sue.
Speaking of, Paul Heyman has said he won't take Sandman back because Sandman walked out on ECW without finishing up his prior commitments and he also claimed Heyman owed him money and threatened to sue. Heyman says they didn't owe Sandman anything and that his lawyers have already shut down Sandman's claim. He also says he won't ever bring Public Enemy back because they refused to put over the Dudleys a few months ago and no-showed an event where they were supposed to (PE never returned to ECW. Sandman, of course, will be back in a month).
WCW Fall Brawl is next week, and it's right in the heart of Flair Country (Winston-Salem, NC). So, how are things going you ask? Well, for years, WCW has been running shows in that area and year after year, they drew sell-out crowds and they repaid those fans by making local favorites Flair and the Horsemen look stupid every time. As a result, with only a week or so to go before a major PPV, they've only sold 2,200 tickets. Textbook example of how to kill a once-thriving town.
Notes from Nitro: the Berlyn (Alex Wright) character debuted and it was really well done, though Dave is disappointed that he's already slated to feud with Bagwell, which immediately establishes him as a midcard guy when WCW is desperately in need of fresh faces on top. Not that Alex Wright is necessarily a main event level guy, but it was a hot debut and the wind was totally sucked out of it when he said he was going after Bagwell. Also, Hogan's face turn isn't going so well. He got good nostalgia pops for the first couple of weeks when he returned to the red and yellow, but that has totally faded and now it's mostly just a mixture of polite cheers and boos.
WCW has booked a New Year's Eve PPV at the 70,000-seat Fiesta Bowl in Tempe, AZ that will be a combination full-length WCW show and full-length KISS concert. Dave says the WCW wrestlers are going to be pretty annoyed at having to spend the biggest New Year's Eve in history working (it gets cancelled).
Needless to say, Kidman and Konnan are both in the dog house after calling Bischoff's bluff and trying to get out of their contracts. Both men are staying, but they're expected to both be buried for awhile. On the flip side, when Bischoff gave Raven his release to go work in ECW, Bischoff told Raven that he admired his guts to stand up and say he wanted his release and walk out of the meeting. Bischoff said he didn't expect anyone would actually do it. Both sides basically agreed that they wouldn't bad mouth each other and in 1 year, when Raven's contract is up, he would be welcomed back in WCW if he wanted to return.
Chastity was given word that her contract will not be renewed when it expires in December. That has left Hardcore Hak (Sandman) wanting to return to ECW, although Heyman has said he doesn't want him back. But given the low rating of the first TNN show, Dave thinks Heyman would take him back in a heartbeat (spoiler: Heyman takes him back in a heartbeat).
WCW wrestler Dennis Rodman was arrested for public intoxication last week and was released the next day. Dave is SHOCKED, I tell you, SHOCKED at this turn of events.
Ric Flair and Goldberg were among many of the celebrities who attended a celebrity golf event for late basketball coach Jimmy V. Goldberg had one of the longest autograph lines of the event, only rivaled by Michael Jordan's. They also did an auction and the top selling item at the auction was one of Ric Flair's robes, which sold for $28,000 (I've read $35,000 on another source). Who bought it, you ask? Darius Rucker, lead singer of Hootie and the Blowfish (and yup, he still pulls it out to wear around the kitchen every now and then).

Notes from Raw: Undertaker isn't wrestling right now due to a torn groin, but is still appearing on Raw. Mankind also clearly returned way too early from his knee surgeries and he has also gained a lot of weight and is looking real bad in the ring. New ring announcer Lillian Garcia has been making lots of mistakes and Dave doesn't have high hopes for her sticking around long (whoops). Big Show has never been worse in the ring.
The Dudley Boyz debuted on Smackdown, beating up the other tag teams with 2x4s. Afterward, they cut a promo backstage, with Bubba Ray doing his old stuttering gimmick. D-Von also did his catchphrase from ECW, the old "Thou shalt not fuck with the Dudleyz" line, except it was changed to "mess with" for obvious reasons.

Road Dogg is reportedly recording an album and will be off TV for a couple of months, which is why they're claiming he's injured. He's not really (I assume nothing ever came of this? Or maybe it was another cover for going to rehab? He went a few times during this era).
WWF is close to signing Sylvester Terkay, who has wrestled in Japan. And they're also looking at bringing in former UFC fighter Oleg Taktarov. There's also talk of bringing back Curtis Hughes, who has reportedly lost a lot of weight.
Developmental signee Vic Grimes has been working for about a year down in Memphis under WWF contract but isn't panning out too well. They're talking about sending him to ECW to get more experience (not good news for New Jack coming soon).
The sit-down interview that Davey Boy Smith and his wife Diana filmed with Jim Ross was supposed to start airing in segments last week but it hasn't happened. WWF is hesitant about airing them due to a lot of the controversial things he said and because of the ongoing lawsuit with the Hart family. Smith also recently made a lot of harsh comments about Bret Hart in a Calgary Sun newspaper interview. Smith claimed that Bret had called up Diana (his sister) and told her that if he were to see her on the street that he would run her over. Smith said he was upset because he quit WWF and went to WCW out of loyalty to Bret following the Montreal Screwjob, but Bret didn't have his back when Bischoff fired him. Bret was very upset about Smith's comments but didn't respond to them publicly because of the WWF lawsuit, but he did write his own column in the paper saying that he would give his side of the story some day when he is able to (the Davey Boy interview never airs).
On Smackdown, Stevie Richards and Blue Meanie had filmed a segment called the "Blonde Bitch Project" which is obviously a spoof on the recently released Blair Witch Project movie. It was supposed to end with them mocking Sable, but Vince McMahon scrapped it likely for legal reasons given the lawsuit settlement where neither side can publicly disparage each other.
Mick Foley's autobiography should be out in October and is called "Have A Nice Day." Unlike other WWF bios that are coming out next year that are ghostwritten, Mick Foley actually wrote his own book entirely himself. Speaking of Foley, now that he's back, WWF wants him to drop 50 pounds since he returned from injury much heavier than when he left.
WWF has contacted Jim Neidhart about coming in to form a tag team with Davey Boy Smith. WCW is also interested in bringing in Neidhart. Dave can't seem to figure out why either company would even bother.
The Rock is expected to be in Memphis this week campaigning on behalf of Jerry Lawler's mayoral run (I remember a lot about Lawler running for mayor but had no idea Rock was here trying to help him).
WWF returned to Kansas City to the Kemper Arena for the first time since Owen Hart's death for a house show. A lot of the wrestlers said it was uncomfortable and eerie to be wrestling in that arena again.
Al Snow pulled a pretty funny rib on Val Venis this week. On TV, after Big Boss Man kidnapped Snow's pet dog Pepper, Snow was seen hanging up "MISSING" posters for the dog. The phone number on the posters was actually Val Venis' real home phone number and it aired on TV, which surely led to him getting a lot of messages on his answering machine when he got home.
The Moonlight Bunny Ranch, a legal brothel in Nevada, has named one of their rooms the Jesse Ventura Suite because Ventura allegedly used to frequent the Ranch when he was a Navy SEAL based out of the area. The room will be decorated with SEAL and Ventura memorabilia. They also said Ventura now has a lifetime free pass to the Ranch. Hello everyone, im looking to get into this as a hobby and I have a couple questions hopefully you all can clear up for me.

YEARS ago i bought a KWA G36C and I am wondering in 2019 if it would be worth repairing? I dont know much about this sport but its my understanding that once a license to recreate an airsoft version of a real gun expires typically the same company will either renew it and create next gen models, OR another company will have the license and therefore make the previous company's version harder to find parts because it is now discontinued by the previous company and the new company wants to make it their own and will recreate it with different parts? I bought said KWA G36C back around 2010-ish and never really made it to a field, so the gun hasn't seen much use AT ALL.

But seeing as i want to enter the sport now as a young adult with my own income I can buy what i want/need on my own terms instead of being 13 hoping my parents would allow it. That being said I have done some research about newer guns to see whats on the market as well as looked up a local field that is indoors that I will most likely be playing at. Its called Dreadnought Airsoft in Arizona. It seems like it has really neat features as well as an 18+ rule which I have seemingly grown fond of as most airsoft videos I see with people complaining or cheating by not calling their hits are kids 18 and younger.

The Classic Army X9 for 289.99 on most online retailers is what has been catching my attention as far as a new investment goes and if my KWA is irreparable or not worth repairing in the first place I think this will be my gun of choice. Id like to get everyone's opinion on my KWA as well as the potential buy, the X9.

Now me being me Id like to have some accessories to put on the gun the day i get it, so ive done some research on accessories as well. I am thinking of purchasing a NcStar red dot reflex sight https://www.airsoftgi.com/product/NcSTAR-Red-Dot-Reflex-QR-Mount-Black-4-Different-Reticles-17424/ for the X9 as this seems to be a decent-quality-for-the-price option for a sight and I am pretty sure this will fit the x9 too. Along side this id like to get a sight protector i was thinking this one from evike would be good https://www.evike.com/products/85708/ I know that this protector is more than the sight however i figured if i buy a good protector ill never have to worry about damaging the reflex. thoughts on this appreciated as well!

Additionally Id want to add a tracer unit to the end of the barrel of the x9 because at dreadnought airsoft field there are light fixtures that may be "shot out" and black out certain rooms in the field and i figure this would be good far telling me whether or not i hit players in the dark (seeing them bounce off them in the dark) as well as shot range and just keeping track of where im shooting better overall. Im now sure where I can find a good tracer unit to fit the X9 as im not sure where to ensure the thread of the tracer unit will match the threads on the gun for a solid non-wobbly fit. Expanding on this I saw a video of someone taking a mag and filling the last 5 shots in the mag with red tracer bbs and the rest of the mag with green tracer bbs. Id like to find a tracer that can do this as this will tell me when im low on ammo and need to reload - sounds like a good/neat idea to me!

Other than those questions Im also considering a stubby foregrip as the CA x9 is a short smg and this will add control for tightness around corners as the field Dreadnought is mostly cqb, as well as a laser system however the tracer and the laser serve the same purpose as far as i can tell so i may get one or the other.

Lastly Ill probably look into a paintjob for this seeing as its a fun CQB gun i want colors or a design to match the zippy nature of the it, if yall could recommend a good video on how to prep and paint a gun and maybe what paint to use that would be greatly appreciated as well - ive seen videos of people hydro dipping their guns and this looks like a good alternative to spraying your weapon and possibly creating jams in the future? opinions welcome!
and for a side arm i was thinking a gas blow back pistol with a full auto feature for fun as a preference, possibly a mac11 or some form of a machine pistol? suggestions would be great for that as well im not sure what companies are the "good companies" in this sport so please fill me in on general "rankings" of companies because I dont want to buy crappy products.

Hi, I live out of state and need to renew my license. I had a speeding ticket that was past due in NC. I took care of that online but I have to pay $65 for a restoration fee in order to be able to renew it. The person on the phone said I had 2 options in doing so, either someone in North Carolina pays it for me or I mail it in. I need it taken care of asap so I was looking for someone who could go by to pay it for me(I can send the money via venmo and throw in a little extra for helping me).
I just got a new job and need my license renewed to get to work next Monday and for doing the paperwork involved with the position. So mailing it in will take longer. I should have handled this way earlier but due to private reasons I didnt.

Signature occurred on page wholly separate from rest of contract. However, small claims is more casual and dates/names occur matching on both pages so hopefully lands within reason to judge.
Contract states 'automatic renewal' unless cancelled in writing & signed by both, or writing and ignored by other party for 90 days. (Neither occurred)

Owner of client company (sole owner, sole 'employee') was a "friend". Started his business. Wanted tech/mktg support. Mortgage industry. Grey line on requirement of a Mortgage License for anyone getting paid/funds (except employees). So we decided I would get mortgage license in order to be paid from Referral Generation of mortgage clients. Signed contract (linked). Worked as media, internet, tech systems, paid on client referrals deemed to come through website. There was no 'exact' way to deem which referrals were through website, relied on Client to verbally ask if Referral came through Website/Mktg. Client/Friend was a Sociopath and "fired" me approx May 2018. (After setup/creation of long-term effect continuous marketing plans, activity, technology, websites, etc.) Shortly after, I implemented the "recapture" of delivered items and shutdown/removed some of the Deliverables I'd given him. HOWEVER, the main Lead Generation deliverables were inaccessible/taken by Client.

??? Can I:

Stand in Small claims court w/ any authority
Charge him for approximated monetary losses via stated in contract of continual payment of Client Leads (no specific way to prove which leads were due to my mktg. effects)
Hold up in court if sued for charging his CC for an amount

The gold rush has struck the west for a second time. Highway Blossoms is the story of Amber, a girl trying her best to be alone on the road until she stumbles upon a young hitchhiker and the journal of a prospector from long ago.

About This Game
Highway Blossoms is a short yuri kinetic novel set in the American Southwest. After an old gold rush miner's journal is discovered, supposedly detailing where he hid parts of his stash, a nationwide craze begins as would-be prospectors try to solve its clues and strike it rich.
Amber couldn't care less. Wandering the desert in a recently-inherited motorhome, she mourns the loss of her grandfather - indifferent and unaware of the hunt happening around her. It's not until she meets Marina, a young hitchhiker lost in New Mexico that the girls get swept up in the rush.

At least tens of words, maybe even hundreds. Although the last word count puts it around 90,000, so expect 6 or so hours of reading. Grand, hand-painted vistas of actual landmarks in the western United States, all in glorious 1080p detail. A huge soundtrack featuring the works of Anna Logue, Jake Abernathie, Able Kirby, and other friends of AlienWorks. Sounds right at home on your in-dash cassette tape player. Accessibility options for days, including the ability to skip through everything in less than five minutes. But who would wanna do that? Achievements, although to be honest, they might be stretching the definition of "achievement." Alternate silly content for second readthroughs that AlienWorks let the programmer write. This may or may not have been a good idea.

Katawa Shoujo (Japanese: かたわ少女, lit. "Cripple Girls", translated "Disability Girls") is a bishōjo-style visual novel by Four Leaf Studios that tells the story of a young man and five young women living with varying disabilities. The game uses a traditional text and sprite-based visual novel model with an ADV-style text box running on the Ren'Py visual novel engine. The game is licensed under the Creative Commons CC-BY-NC-ND.[7]
The majority of the story takes place at the fictional Yamaku High School for disabled children, located in an unnamed city somewhere in modern, northern Japan.[8] The player takes the role of Hisao Nakai, an ordinary boy whose life changes dramatically after a heart attack caused by his long-dormant cardiac arrhythmia. After a lengthy hospitalization, he is forced to transfer to a school specialized in providing education and healthcare for disabled students. Over the course of the narrative, Hisao has the opportunity to come to grips with his condition and adjust to his new life.[9]
The gameplay of Katawa Shoujo is choice-based, in which the player reads through text and occasionally has the chance to respond to prompts with a variety of preset responses. The decisions made initiate possible events or dialogue within the story. Depending on the choices made by the player, the story branches into multiple forks. Each of these paths chronicle Hisao's deepening and eventually romantic relationship with one of the five main female characters (or lack thereof), which may variously end well, badly, or neutrally.[10]

Super Mario Odyssey[a] is a 3D platform action-adventure video game developed and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch. An installment in the Super Mario series, the story follows Mario and Cappy, a spirit that possesses Mario's hat and allows him to take control of other characters and objects, as they set on a journey across various worlds to save Princess Peach from his nemesis Bowser, who plans to forcibly marry her. In contrast to the linear gameplay of prior entries, the game returns to the primarily open-ended, exploration-based gameplay previously featured in Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine.
Development began after the completion of Super Mario 3D World in 2013. Various ideas were suggested during development, and to incorporate them all, the team decided to employ a sandbox-style of gameplay. Unlike the more casual-oriented 3D World, the team designed it to specifically appeal more to the series' core audience. The game also features a theme song with lyrics, "Jump Up, Super Star!", which was a first for the series. Super Meat Boy is an independent video game designed by Edmund McMillen and Tommy Refenes and developed by Team Meat. It is the successor to McMillen and Jonathan McEntee's 2008 flash game Meat Boy. Super Meat Boy was released on the Xbox 360 through Xbox Live Arcade in October 2010, on Microsoft Windows in November 2010, on OS X a year later in November 2011, on Linux in December 2011 as a part of the Humble Indie Bundle #4, in May 2012 as a part of the Humble Indie Bundle V, on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita in October 2015, on Wii U in May 2016, and for the Nintendo Switch in January 2018.[1]
In the game the player controls Meat Boy, a red, cube-shaped character, as he attempts to rescue his girlfriend, Bandage Girl, from the game's antagonist Dr. Fetus. The gameplay is characterized by fine control and split-second timing as the player runs and jumps through over 300 hazardous levels while avoiding obstacles. Additional player-created levels are available for free download.
Development of the game began in January 2009. McMillen worked on level design and artwork, while Refenes coded the game; it was tested primarily by the pair and their families. Initially intended for release in early 2010 for personal computers and the WiiWare download service, the release date was pushed back as the design was changed to include more levels and exclude multiplayer modes. The WiiWare version was canceled due to the service's technical limitations. The music for the game was created by Danny Baranowsky, who had also composed the music for Meat Boy. Ace Attorney[a] is a series of visual novel adventure video games developed by Capcom. The first entry in the series, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, was released in 2001; since then, five further main series games, as well as various spin-offs and high-definition remasters for newer game consoles, have been released. Additionally, the series has seen adaptations in the form of a live action film and an anime, and has been the base for manga series, drama CDs, musicals and stage plays.
The player takes the roles of various defense attorneys, including Phoenix Wright, his mentor Mia Fey, and his understudies Apollo Justice and Athena Cykes, and investigates cases and defends their clients in court; they find the truth by cross-examining witnesses and finding inconsistencies between the testimonies and the evidence they have collected. The cases all last a maximum of three days, with the judge determining the outcome based on evidence presented by the defense attorney and the prosecutor. In the spin-off series Ace Attorney Investigations, the player takes the role of prosecutor Miles Edgeworth, and in the spin-off Dai Gyakuten Saiban, they play as Phoenix's ancestor Ryūnosuke Naruhodō.
The series was created by the writer and director Shu Takumi. He wanted the series to end after the third game, but it continued, with Takeshi Yamazaki taking over as writer and director starting with Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth (2009); Takumi has since returned to write and direct some spin-off titles. While the original Japanese versions of the games are set in Japan, the series' localizations are set in the United States, though retaining Japanese cultural influence.
