The International Monetary Fund is an international money system administered by the United Nations. Article IX of the Articles of Agreement make it immune from all laws.

On 7/22/1944, the IMF was created artificially under the Bretton Woods Agreement. Harry Dexter White, IMF director and CFR member was a Russian spy.

The Department of Treasury can be interchangeable with the IMF as seen in Presidential Documents, Volume 29, #4, pg. 113. The Treasury is under IMF authority.

The United States has not had a Treasury since 1921: 41 Stat. Ch. 214, pg. 654.

The Secretary of Treasury is not paid by the United States government. He is a US Governor of and paid by the IMF. He is a trustee whose Settler and Beneficiaries are unknown.

On 7/9/1953, G.M. Humphrey changed the name of the Bureau of Internal Revenue to the Internal Revenue Service through Treasury Order 150-06.

48 USC Section 1421l(i) defines income tax laws.

In 1884, it was accepted that the property which every man has is his own labor (and) as it is the original foundation of all other property, so it is the most sacred and inviolable. Therefore, since wages are received as compensation for labor, it can not be legally taxed. Income, however, is the process of profiting from a business (someone else's labor) or investments, and is taxable, as in a Corporation, which is an artificial entity which is given the right to exist by the State. The Constitution only allows the Congress to collect taxes, and that is limited to a uniform excise tax on gasoline, alcohol, tobacco, telephone bills, firearms, and tires, things revolving in one way or another around interstate commerce.

26-US Code 3402(p) defines voluntary withholding agreements.
Labor is not profit.
In the case U.S. vs Ballard, it was determined income is not defined in the Internal Revenue Code.
In Eisner vs. Macklemore, it was determined that income is the gain come to fruition from capital or labor. It is indistinguishable of income.
In Lucas vs. Alexander, it was determined that the 1913 Tax Act refers to income only as profit or gain.

Under the Victory Tax Act, income tax for the years 1943 and 1944 were to be paid in the years 1944 and 1945. It expired at the end of 1944. Employees of the Federal Government, residents of D.C., naval bases, forts, US citizens of Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, territories and insular possessions were lawfully required to pay Victory Tax.

In 31 USC Chapter 3, Subchapter 1, IRS, BATF or secret service are not listed as agencies of the Department of Treasury. The IRS is referenced to be audited by Controller General in Title 31 USC section 713.

Under Delegation Order 115 revision 5 of 5/12/1986, the only delegation of authority to conduct audit, enables the IRS and ATF to only audit themselves and for amounts of $750 or less. Any amount above $750 must be audited by the Controller General according to 31 USC. No other authority to audit exists. Order 191 states they can levy on property but only if in the hands of 3rd parties.

26-CFR 1.6091, explains the Director of International Operations and filing requirements. Nothing is filed with the IRS. There is no regulation pertaining to failure to file. There are no filing requirements.

Al Capone was jailed for tax due on alcohol illegally imported from Canada. He did not pay duties and excises on this alcohol. His partner was Edgar Brothman, the owner of Seagrams, who made a deal with the U.S. Government to get off.

IRS money spends at least a year in a "Quad Zero" account under an Individual Master File. The Director of the IRS can do whatever he wants with the money. It usually proceeds to the Director of the Service Center. Under Treasury Order 91, IRS money is dispersed to the Agency for International Development, the military arm of the United Nations, which provides for district directors, directors of service centers and assistant commissioners to become members of board of directors of the corporation that doles out money.

William Casey, CIA director, and head of AID, funneled millions to the Soviet Union to be spent building the Kama River Truck Factory.

Article 1, Section 8 of the U.S. Constitution forbids unapportioned direct taxes upon citizens of the 50 states. The Constitution forbids withholding tax.

In Pollock v. Farmers' Loan & Trust Co., it was concluded that direct taxes must be apportioned.

According to Clause 17 of Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution, the Federal Government is limited to governing its own property.

The federal government can only tax on Federal Government Internal Revenue. The government has no duty to citizens / individuals.

The Federal Government's taxation is limited to 5 activities:

domestic corporations charted by the US government
net profits derived within the US by alien or foreign firms
net profits from foreign entities
net profits derived from Federal contracts for government upkeep, excise tax and privileges
net profits derived from wages and salaries of Federal employees

That includes
windfall profits like offshore oil wells,
war profits such as income from states and trusts maintained by the Federal Government for people in the military like Marine Killed In Duty trust fund,
customs taxes,
and the State Department.

The power of the Federal Government is limited to regulate commerce with foreign nations and among the several state and Indian tribes, according to Clause 3 of Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution. In 18 USC Section 921, the term interstate or foreign commerce includes commerce between any place in a state, and any place outside of that state, or within any possession of the United States, not including the Canal Zone or D.C. but such terms does not include commerce between places within the same state but through any place outside of that state.

28 USC Rule 54(c), Application of Terms: "As used in these rules the following terms have the designated meanings. 'Act of Congress' includes any act of Congress locally applicable to and in force in the District of Columbia, in Puerto Rico, in a territory or in an insular possession."

In the IRS manual of 4/21/1989, 1132.72, Collection Division, says: "Executes the full range of collection activities on delinquent accounts, which includes securing delinquent returns involving taxpayers outside the United States and those in United States territories, possessions and in Puerto Rico."

page 1100-40.2 "the Criminal Investigation Division enforces the criminal statutes applicable to income, estate, gift, employment, and excise tax laws ... involving United States citizens residing in foreign countries and nonresident aliens subject to Federal income tax filing requirements by developing information concerning alleged criminal violations thereof, evaluating allegations and indications of such violations to determine investigations to be undertaken, investigating suspected criminal violations of such laws, recommending prosecution when warranted, and measuring effectiveness of the investigation processes"

The United States Attorney's Manual of 10/1/1988, Title 6 Tax Division, Chapter 4, page 16, , 6-4.270, Criminal Division Responsibility, states: "The Criminal Division has limited responsibility for the prosecution of offenses investigated by the IRS. Those offenses are: excise violations involving liquor tax, narcotics, stamp tax, firearms, wagering, and coin-operated gambling and amusement machines; malfeasance offenses committed by IRS personnel; forcible rescue of seized property; corrupt or forcible interference with an officer or employee acting under the internal revenue laws; and unauthorized mutilation, removal or misuse of stamps." See 28 C.F.R. Sec. 0.70.

If you volunteer that you are a U.S. citizen you have become a U.S. citizen. If you write your name on a line labeled taxpayer you have become a taxpayer.

A return is prepared by a taxpayer to submit to Federal Government taxes he/she collected.

A 1040 is an income tax return for non-resident alien citizen of the U.S. Virgin Islands residing in one of 50 states or agent thereof. It's a non-taxable return and the money derived from it doesn't go to the government.

A taxpayer is a tax collector who submits taxes as a return to the Federal Government.

A revenue agent is any duly authorized Commonwealth Internal Revenue Agent of the Department of the Treasury of Puerto Rico.

A revenue officer collects taxes and returns then files the returns with the District Director who files the return with the service center showing the taxes he collected in his district. This goes to the super center which files the return with Washington D.C. or with the Secretary of Treasury of Puerto Rico who is the Commissioner of Internal Revenue. He takes deductions for the cost to collect taxes.

An employee is employed by the Federal Government.

An employer is the Federal Government.

An individual is a citizen of Guam or the U.S. Virgin Islands.

A business is a government, bank or insurance company.

A domestic corporation is a corporation residing within D.C., Guam, Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Philippines, Northern Mariana Trust Territory, territories, and insular possessions.

A resident is an alien citizen of Guam, U.S. Virgin Islands, or Puerto Rico who resides within one of the 50 states of the Union or other island possessions.

The Federal Government must trick its citizens into voluntarily paying taxes as U.S. Citizens of Guam or Puerto Rico. Guam and the U.S. are mutually interchangeable.
In the Internal Revenue Code of 1954, which is the Internal Revenue Code of 1939, the U.S. and Guam are to coordinate individual income tax.

26 CFR 301.7654-1 explains coordination of U.S. and Guam individual income taxes. Section (e) explains military personnel in Guam.

pg. 65 of 26 CFR, created 6/1/1938, pertains to the China Trade Act, administered in the Philippines by the Bureau of internal revenue.

31 USC 1321 is the Philippines Customs Administrative Act passed by the Philippine Commission between 9/1/1900 and 8/31/1902. It merged customs and internal revenue in the Philippines. It is administered under general supervision and control of Secretary of Finance and Justice.

Trust Fund #1 is the Philippine Special Fund (Customs Duties).

Trust Fund #2 is the Philippines Special Fund (internal revenue) enacted by Internal Revenue Law of 1904 pertaining to alcohol taxes in the Philippines.

Article 1, Section 2 created the Bureau of Internal Revenue in the Department of Finance and Justice. The Collector of Internal Revenue is the Chief Officer appointed by the Civil Governor with advice and consent of the Philippines Commission. He is paid 8000 pesos per annum salary.

Article 1, Section 3: Collector of Internal Revenue under direction of Secretary of Finance and Justice shall have general superintendence of assessment and collection of all taxes and excises imposed by this act or any act amendatory thereof.

Trust Fund #62 is the Puerto Rico Special Fund (Internal Revenue).

27 CFR Chapter 1, section 2050.11 of 4/1/1994 defines:
Revenue Agent as any internal revenue agent of Treasury of Puerto Rico,
Secretary as Secretary of Treasury of Puerto Rico, and
US ATF Office as Puerto Rico operating under compliance with the North Atlantic region.

Tax Class 6 are violations of alcohol, tobacco or firearms in Puerto Rico.

In IRS publication 6209, IRS computer code "TC 150" is for Virgin Islands Returns. Codes 300 - 398 are listed as U.S. and UK Tax Treaty claims involving taxes on narcotics financed in the Cayman Islands and imported into the Virgin Islands.

Form 8288 is a backup withholding form for when you import narcotics into the Virgin Islands. Withhold 20% and pay to the Commissioner of Narcotics.

The Internal Revenue Manual, Handbook of Delegation Orders of January 17, 1983, page 1229-91 outlines the alleged Internal Revenue Service's system of monetary awards "of up to and including $5,000 for any one individual employee or group of employees in his/her immediate office, including field employees engaged in National Office projects; and contributions of employees of other Government agencies and armed forces members" with the approval of the Deputy Commissioner, "of $5,001 to $10,000 for any one individual or group" with approval of the Deputy Commissioner, "of $10,001 - $25,000 for any one individual or group" with the Commissioner's concurrence, "an additional monetary award of $10,000 (total $35,000) to the President through Treasury and OPM" with the Commissioner's concurrence.

The Federal Alcohol Administration Act, 27 USC 201, was created under the National Industrial Reconstruction Act, creating the Federal Alcohol Administration which was declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court in the 1930s. Under 1940 Reorganization Plan #3, 5 USC 903 Subsection 8 and 9, its office abolished and functions directed to be administered under supervision of Secretary of Treasury through Bureau of Internal Revenue. It was transferred to the Philippines Bureau of Internal Revenue.

Reorganization Plan 26 of 1950 transferred the duties of the IRS related to alcohol, tobacco and firearms.

On 6/6/1972, Charles E. Walker issued Treasury Order 120-01 to establish the ATF without legislation or knowledge of the people. It created the Director, Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms division.

The ATF is an international police organization made up of the Philosophers of Fire exempt from the laws of the USA.

Their jurisdiction is Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. The Regional Director of Compliance is the Puerto Rico BATF. The only illegal arms are ones imported from Puerto Rico and taxes not paid on them.

In 1975 it was named the Internal Revenue Service.

In the 12/15/1976 edition of the Federal Register, Director, ATF replaced by IRS.

Title 26-USC Chapters 61 to 80 doesn't pertain to the public. Regulations apply to officers and employees and the ATF / IRS. It explains procedures that include: keeping records, examination of records, determination of district director whether required to file return, internal audit, IRS can audit if under $750, if over $750, it must be conducted by the Inspector General, filing requirements, record keeping, examination assessment, how to pay, tax court, criminal investigation and prosecution. These are delegated to the BATF in Puerto Rico, the Puerto Rican and the Virgin Islands tax agency. They are only relevant to Puerto Rican product. Not permitted to obtain records pertaining to Chapters 61 and 80.

[Modevent] Shifting Sands

States are not homogenous entities. They are composed of dozens of different interest groups and cliques, each with their own vision for what the state ought to do and what society ought to look like. In functioning states, these groups agree on more things than they disagree on--or at least, the powerful groups are able to monopolize power enough to keep dissident voices drowned out. Carefully crafted power sharing arrangements, usually aided along by some sort of common enemy or common mission, keep states functioning well enough to work as coherent actors in the international arena.
But these alliances are not set in stone. Like the sands of the Rub’ al Khali, they shift with the winds. One day, two factions may be the closest of allies. The next, one might overreach. One might think they have become too powerful to need to be held down by the commitments they’ve made to their erstwhile allies.
And what happens when they’re wrong?
Chaos.
Power in Saudi Arabia
On paper, the King of Saudi Arabia holds near-absolute power over the country. With no constitutional constraints, it would seem that the King (or more recently, the Crown Prince) enjoys unlimited power in Saudi society. There is no elected--nor even appointed--legislature to serve as a check on the King’s power. If the King wishes to permit women to drive, he need nearly decree it, and so shall it be.
Viewing Saudi Arabia through this lens, however, flattens the existing power dynamics in the country. The King’s absolute power is in practice constrained by the varied interest groups that help to lend legitimacy to the institution of the monarchy, such as (to name a few) the military, the House of Saud, and the religious establishment (the ulema).
The relationship between the ulema and the monarchy has been critical to the continued existence of the Saudi Arabian state. Starting with the 1744 alliance between Muhammad ibn Saud, the founder of the al-Saud dynasty, and Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Wahhab, the two groups have formed something of a symbiotic relationship. The House of Saud provides the Wahhabist movement with protection and propagates its beliefs, and in exchange the Wahhabist movement lends legitimacy to the monarchy.
The Grand Mosque Seizure; or, Why Saudi Arabia is the Way it Is
In November 1979, hundreds of armed religious militants took control of the Masjid al-Haram in Mecca--the holiest site in Islam. Their leader, Juhayman al-Otaybi, declared his brother-in-law, Mohammed Abdullah al-Qahtani, to be the *Mahdi--a redeeming figure in Islami prophesied to arrive on Earth several years before Judgement Day. For a period of two weeks, al-Otaybi and his supporters managed to maintain control of the Mosque. The ensuing assault led to the deaths of hundreds of fighters and pilgrims.
The Grand Mosque Seizure was, in part, a response to the growth of “western influence” within Saudi Arabia. Al-Otaybi condemned the West calling for the abolition of television and radio, the expulsion of non-Muslims, and the removal of women from the workplace. For al-Otaybi, the ruling al-Saud family’s refusal to resist this western influence had robbed them of their right to rule.
While al-Otaybi was ultimately unsuccessful in overthrowing the House of Saud, his insurrection did led to an important revelation for the Saudi monarchy: religious extremism was perhaps the single greatest threat to their continued hold on power in Saudi Arabia. Rather than restricting the power of the ulema in an attempt to curtail this threat, King Khalid dramatically expanded the role of the ulema and the religious police, surrendering some of the House of Saud’s power in exchange for additional stability and security. This state of affairs, with some tinkering, would remain the status quo for the next three decades.
Shifting Sands
Since the September 11th, 2001 attacks and the beginning of the Global War on Terror, the monarchy has taken significant steps to attempt to curtail the influence of the ulema. The monarchy has become much less tolerant of clerics that speak out against the monarchy, often arresting them (though these arrests are usually temporary, they are enough to scare the dissident clerics into silence).
The rise of Mohammad bin Salman in the mid-2010s accelerated this curtailment of the ulema’s power. Viewed as a youthful reformer, MbS has undone many of the laws that were put in place following the Grand Mosque Seizure: in 2018, he removed the ban on female drivers, while in 2021, he legalized gambling and the consumption of alcohol. While he was within his rights to do so--again, the monarchy has no formal restrictions on its authority--these actions flew in the face of the alliance struck between the House of Saud and the ulema.
Had the Crown Prince stopped there, conservative opposition to his rule might have been vocal, but nevertheless manageable. Resistance in this period was largely restricted to existing Saudi exile groups like Movement for Islamic Reform in Arabia and Hizb ut-Tahrir. A collection of senior clerics in Saudi Arabia rallied together to compose a new Memorandum of Exhortation--a call-back to the 1992 Memorandum written in the aftermath of Gulf War--condemning the Kingdom’s slide away from righteousness and towards western hedonism. The participating clerics were quickly stripped of their positions, arrested, or forced into exile, but their memorandum nevertheless made the rounds--especially in more rural, more conservative communities, where the monarchy had less power (relatively) than the ulema. Still, it spawned little but discontent whispers and prayers that someone would do something to set the Kingdom back on the righteous path.
But he didn’t stop there. No more than four months later, Saudi Arabia invited the Bahraini Shi’a cleric Isa Qassim to Saudi Arabia. By itself, this would have created a diplomatic incident--Qassim was, in essence, the leader of the Shi’a opposition to the Saudi-aligned Sunni ruling dynasty of Bahrain, serving as a persistent thorn in the side of the Bahraini royal family. The fact that the House of Saud was inviting him to Saudi Arabia not just as a guest, but paying for the construction of a Hawza (a Shi’a seminary), was nothing short of sacreligious.
The moment this news went public, conservative Saudi society flew into an outrage. How dare the monarchy collaborate with the radifa. Whatever control the monarchy had over the clergy melted away overnight, with most every Sunni cleric in the country denouncing the government’s support of the heretics in some form or another. Eight of the twenty-one members of the Council of Senior Scholars, the highest religious body in the country (and also one of the religious institutions most aligned with the House of Saud) resigned in protest. Among those resigning included several members of the al ash-Sheikh family, the foremost family of religious scholars and the direct descendents of al-Wahhab. Even Abdul-Rahman Al Sudais, the Imam of the Great Mosque of Mecca, issued a public denouncement of the government’s decision to fund the Hawza.
Protests broke out throughout the country, especially in Mecca, Medina, and the Nejd, and while Saudi security forces were able to break their resolve after a week or two of protests, their discontent did not dissipate. The Saudi government’s 2022 decision to invite sixteen new American military bases only reignited tensions. Overnight, Saudi Arabia went from having no American bases to being the country with the sixth most American military bases. That anger stayed, bubbling beneath the surface. Waiting for an outlet.
It finally found that outlet in 2022. At the opening ceremony of the new Hawza 'Ilmiya Dammam, a car bomb ripped through the crowd, destroying the largest building in the compound. When first responders arrived at the scene to treat the casualties, another suicide bomber--this one disguised as a first responder himself--detonated his vest, killing several dozen paramedics and security personnel. Several hours later, on the other side of the country in Jazan, a car bomber struck an under-construction American base, killing several Saudi construction workers (most of whom were migrant workers from South Asia or the Philippines), two American contractors leading the construction effort, and three American officers. Al Qaeda claimed responsibility for the attacks the next day.
In total, some eighty-four people, including three American servicemen, two American contractors, and forty Saudi nationals, died in the attacks, while another two- to three-hundred were wounded. Among those dead were several of the most important clerics of the new Hawza, including Qassim and the Pakistani marja’ Muhammad Hussain Najafi. The other Pakistani marja’ involved in the Hawza, Bashir al-Najafi, succumbed to his injuries a week later. The response from the predominantly Wahhabi Sunni clergy in the country ranged from silence (for those not willing to risk the ire of the monarchy) to celebratory (for those more dedicated to their faith than self-preservation). For the Saudi government, this was a concerning sign of what was to come. Older members draw comparisons between the current political moment and that of the 1990s, when outrage against the monarchy led to the formation of conversative opposition groups and an increase in terror attacks by groups like al Qaeda.
And indeed, their fears may be legitimate. Anti-American protests are becoming increasingly common throughout the country, with the country’s American embassies, consulates, and base construction sites under near constant siege by conservative protesters. The Sahwa movement, a peaceful Islamist group affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood opposed to American bases on the Arabian peninsula, has returned in full force after being all but crushed by government repression in the 1990s. Increasing numbers of Saudi clerics are issuing open criticisms and condemnations of the government and its recent activities, posing a serious challenge to the legitimacy of the rule of King Salman and the Crown Prince.
In a different world, the monarchy might have been able to find some way to placate these dissidents. The warnings were there. But once the genie is out of the bottle, it’s impossible to put it back in.
In April 2022, King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman launched an unprecedented purge of the religious establishment and the non-ruling branches of the House of Saud. Over the course of 48 hours, Saudi security forces rounded up and arrested numerous prominent figures on corruption charges. While this was in and of itself insignificant--MbS had already used corruption arrests to establish his power in the House of Saud in the past--the scale of them was substantially larger than any previous arrests. Moreover, those royals detained through this process found themselves stripped of the rights and comforts they had come to expect during detentions like these: rather than the Ritz Carlton, they instead found themselves thrown into dank, musty jail cells, as though they were any other criminal. This was a signal to the rest of the House of Saud: Mohammad bin Salman would no longer tolerate anything even remotely resembling opposition to his agenda.
The Prince’s seizure of power did not end there. Later that week, King Salman announced that the Wahhabi religious clerics would no longer have any temporal power outside of the Holy Cities of Mecca and Medina. Saudi Arabia, according to the King, was going to become a more tolerant, progressive nation. Non-Muslims would have the same rights as Muslims for the first time in the Kingdom’s history.
As if this weren’t an insult enough to the religious establishment, the King then declared that the Kingdom would be holding an interfaith celebration in the city of Mecca. This celebration would mark the first time that non-Muslims were (legally) allowed entrance into the Grand Mosque in over a thousand years--flying in the face of a restriction that predated the House of Saud itself.
While King Salman’s decree robbed the Wahhabi religious establishment of its temporal power, it could never hope to so suddenly deprive them of their ability to sway the hearts and minds of the masses. Almost every cleric in the country, Salafi or Sufi, Wahhabi or Shafi’i, Sunni or Shi’a, immediately and unequivocally condemned the King’s decision to reverse a thousand years of tradition and allow non-Muslims into the holiest site of Islam. The Imam of the Grand Mosque resigned in disgust, stating that he would rather die than preside over kafirs gaining entrance to Holy City. Most of the Mosque’s clerics resigned with him.

The Situation on the Ground

The country has exploded into massive protests, attended by millions of people across the country. There are near-constant masses of people in the streets of Saudi Arabia’s major cities, while construction work on the proposed Church in Riyadh has been unable to continue due to the hundreds, if not thousands, of protesters surrounding the site at all times. Every day, their grip on Saudi society seems to slip further. Saudi Arabia has long relied on the cooperation of the religious establishment to quash dissent and break up protests. With that alliance shattered by King Salman’s recent actions, Saudi Arabia has had a harder time containing these protests than ever before. There are frequent reports of Saudi security personnel collaborating with the protesters, often sneaking advance warning of police crackdowns to protesters or allowing protest leaders to slip away from arrest warrants.
This environment has allowed numerous critics of the government a new lease on life, as dissent is simply too large and too widespread for the government to crack down on all dissidents at once. One major resurfaced critic of the Saudi government has been the Muslim Brotherhood. Once an ally of the Saudis, the Muslim Brotherhood was declared a terrorist organization in 2014, after its Egyptian leadership was deposed in the 2013 coup d’etat. Since then, the group’s Saudi Arabian leaders were forced to flee into hiding in Qatar, Iraq, and, to a lesser extent, Bahrain. While the Muslim Brotherhood itself is not Wahhabist, and has many doctrinal disputes with the leading branch of Islam in Saudi Arabia, it has nevertheless made significant inroads into Saudi society over the past several months. As clerics and Saudi conservatives have become convinced that monarchy is unable to deliver the Sharia-adherent society they so desire (and worse, that they have little ability to coerce the monarchy into doing so), many have turned towards the Muslim Brotherhood and its promises of democracy. If nothing else, at least the system promoted by the Muslim Brotherhood would allow them to vote out incompetent royals like Mohammad bin Salman!
While many of these groups are not openly violent and are content to continue peaceful (if still terribly disruptive) means of protest against the government, other groups are not. Saudi intelligence is reporting a large surge in the membership numbers of extremist groups like Al Qaeda, Islamic State, and their affiliates. These groups are able to tap into the discontent that has manifested in Saudi society, using the more peaceful groups like the Muslim Brotherhood and Sahwa Movement as a front for radicalizing and recruiting disenfranchised and disgruntled Saudi conservatives. Saudi intelligence suspects that the Kingdom’s sky-high youth unemployment rate--about 25 percent in 2019--has not helped matters, with many of the new recruits coming from the under-30 age group. Saudi intelligence suspects that the growth of these dissident and jihadi groups has also been assisted by covert funding from Qatar and the Qatari nobility (and in the case of the Muslim Brotherhood only, from Turkey as well), though as of yet, they have been unable to find concrete proof.
Perhaps the most major opposition to Saudi rule, though, comes from the Wahhabi clerics that once lent so much legitimacy to the Saudi monarchy. Wahhabi clerics that had erstwhile been major supporters of the Saudi government took to every venue available to them--the pulpit, the streets, the internet, the radio--and loudly and repeatedly condemned the actions of the King and the Crown Prince, declaring that they had strayed from the path of the righteous and no longer had the moral authority to lead. Throughout the country, these Saudi intelligence and security forces have been overwhelmed trying to track down and arrest all of the clerics that have broken the law--either by insulting the King, calling for the death of unbelievers, or some other crime. Increasingly, they find that the public is providing a great deal of assistance in avoiding security personnel, providing housing, food, and other essentials that allow the clerics to go to ground and avoid arrest. Worse still, upper levels of the Saudi security apparatus have reported that their subordinates are, in some cases, simply refusing to carry out these arrest orders.
Finally, elements of Saudi intelligence loyal to the Crown Prince himself are reporting rumors that should have Mohammad bin Salman very concerned. The recent instability in Saudi Arabia has led several members of the House of Saud to think that they could do a much better job running the country than this upstart reformer. While intelligence is unable to pinpoint exactly who is a threat to Mohammad bin Salman at this time, they have managed to suss out that there are ongoing talks between some members of the House of Saud and some members of the religious establishment that a palace coup might be the best way to ensure that their interests are protected. King Salman and MbS go away, the House of Saud can continue with its graft and corruption, and Sharia law and the power of the Wahhabis comes back. It’s a win for everyone.
In short, Mohammad bin Salman faces a great number of issues that must be addressed--quickly--if he is to retain power.

Government Pockets Dry Up

Saudi Arabia has been largely discounting oil export revenues to favor stronger relationships with its allies. This was destined to cause problems when $200 Bn, over 90% of total Saudi exports, come from revenues off of the oil they export. These oil revenues are so critical to the Saudi economy, that cutting off the revenue would send the economy into recession. The targets of these discounts were namely strong Saudi allies like the US, UK, Australia, India, Japan, and many more who are all known to be heavy oil consumers. Saudi Aramco, one of the largest companies on Earth by revenue, had shored up many of its accounts and had begun selling off assets to private investors and other companies just to keep itself afloat. The company, a state-owned enterprise, had to consult the government for this, but had really no other way to save itself. There were rumors in the company of bankruptcy, in one of the most profitable organizations, and layoffs had begun. Of the 76,000 employees, the company quickly shrunk down to 40,000 to recoup the losses. Oil prices across the world had never ever been lower. Fuel across the US was reporting record prices of $1.12 per gallon, which made consumers very happy while the Saudi economy was doing damage control, preparing for an implosion. It would seem the only way the company could recover would be to cut oil operations to slow the quantity to the market, and jack up the price to 20% over market value, effectively eliminating the discount and charging premiums to those who formerly had discounts. If implemented, the US consumer’s dream would be short-lived as they would approach prices of $4.15 per gallon, but would likely save the economy.

The Paper Tiger

A recent series of arrests has also brought to light an unanticipated vulnerability in the Saudi security establishment. Early in 2022, the Ministry of Defense announced plans to double the number of active-duty personnel in the Saudi Land Forces in a period of just two years. Assuming no retirements or fatalities (something that is hard to assume, given the ongoing Saudi intervention in Yemen), the Royal Land Forces will have to hire over three hundred people per day. Meeting this requirement in a country without conscription has required a massive increase in recruitment targets, coupled with a corresponding decrease in the standards used in hiring. In essence, anyone with a warm body that can hold a rifle and walk is being allowed into the military. Moreover, the massive increase in junior enlisted personnel has further taxed the brass’s ability to maintain discipline and unit cohesion: the army’s absenteeism rate has sky-rocketed, as there are simply too many recruits and too few skilled officers and NCOs in order to adequately enforce punishments.
While the drop in Saudi Arabia’s combat capacity that this has caused is concerning on its own, far more concerning is the fact that not all of the recruits to the Saudi military have the country’s best interests at heart. A recent arrest of an Al Qaeda member in Riyadh revealed that numerous terrorist organizations, as well as other dissident organizations, have infiltrated substantial amounts of their members into the newly-expanded Saudi military. If left unchecked, these cells will pose a significant threat to the security of Saudi Arabia, and will be able to use their military training to greatly improve the efficiency of their parent organizations in the future. Moreover, it will give their parent organizations access to classified intelligence on Saudi (read: American) weapons systems, and likely lead to some of these systems ending up in the hands of militant groups in countries like Yemen.
Similarly worrying is the monarchy’s deteriorating control of the Saudi Arabian National Guard. Separate from the traditional command structures of the Saudi military, the SANG has long served as the anti-coup, counter-insurgency, and counter-protest wing of the Saudi security establishment. It is comprised of a mixture of (largely conservative) tribal militias and personnel recruited from the Wahhabi religious establishment. Traditionally, these affiliations have helped protect the government from coups by the more liberal-minded military. In this instance, where the threat to the regime’s existence comes from conservative, religious parts of society, the loyalty of the National Guard has been called directly into question. Some worry that the ousted clerics and the more conservative elements of the House of Saud have compromised the integrity of the SANG, and may be able to use it in order to depose the current ruling family. Whatever the case, most agree that something needs to be done--and soon.

Issues Abroad

Naturally, when things go badly in a country as large as Saudi Arabia, they have a tendency to spill over into their neighbors. Below is a brief summary of some of the spillover effects in neighboring countries.
The United Arab Emirates
While the United Arab Emirates has long been the most “progressive” of the Gulf States, it is not without hardliners and conservatives. The country’s recent decision to decriminalize gay marriage has been met with considerable criticism from the country’s right-wing. Outrage against this decision--coupled with, Emirati intelligence suspects, but cannot prove, some assistance and funding from Qatar--has led to a revival of Al Islah, the UAE-branch of the Muslim Brotherhood. The US presence in the UAE at Al Dhafra Air Base has also under scrutiny as the Sahwa Movement has spread across the border into the UAE, but so far, the movements are still content to resort to peaceful protest.
Bahrain
The death of Isa Qassim has sent shockwaves throughout Bahraini society, worsening already-existing tensions in the Shi’a-majority, Sunni-dominated nation. An important leader of the Shi’a community and political movement on the island, Qassim served as a constant voice for peace, frequently working to curtail the more militant wings of the Shi’a rights movement and channel them into peaceful activities like protest and, before the suspension of the legislature, voting. His martyrdom (and indeed, he is viewed as a martyr now in Bahrain) on Saudi territory has led to a great deal of suspicion in the Shi’a community of Bahrain, with many believing that Saudi security forces let the assassination occur in order to eliminate one of the peninsula’s largest Shi’a opposition leaders. Whether this is true or not is irrelevant: enough people believe it that the new leaders of the opposition who have risen to fill the void have become more convinced that the only way to have their demands met is through violence. In the future, Shi’a opposition groups on the island will be more likely to turn to violence in order to have their demands met.
The royal family has become increasingly skeptical of Saudi Arabia’s commitment to their continued existence and independence following its actions in Qatar. While they are not brave enough to stand up to Saudi Arabia (yet) owing to their proximity to the country, the Royal Family is deeply uncomfortable with the Saudi coup in Qatar. In essence, it appears to the Royal Family that Saudi Arabia will abuse the Crown Prince’s marriage ties in order to replace other leaders of the GCC as punishment for working against Saudi interests. Given the marriage ties between the grand daughter of the King of Bahrain and the Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman, Bahrain considers itself to be at heavy risk of one of these new “succession coups.” As such, Bahrain has started to (quietly) search for new allies to help guarantee its security against an aggressive Saudi Arabia.

The death of Grand Ayatollah Basheer al-Najafi on Saudi territory at the hands of Sunni jihadists has led to a dramatic flare-up in sectarian tensions in Iraq. As one of the Big Four clerics in the holy city of Najaf, al-Najafi was one of the preeminent leaders of the Shi’a faith. On seeking reassurance

I guess we all post our stories here seeking reassurance and we are all on different trajectories in our acceptance of this pain in the ass condition. Its both difficult to deal with the uncertainty of the condition as well as its many troublesome symptoms. Somedays we are rational and others we aren't and jump down that rabbit hole again. Its nice to hear of all the clear neuro exams and EMGS but we all probably think that we're the 1 exception to the rule. This is the irrational biased brain speaking. We scour through the internet looking for the one case that was misdiagnosed or missed. This is catastrophising. this probably has been posted here before but I read it on aboutbfs.com about a year ago - I read every story there but now don't bother anymore.

I am a hypochondriac. My medical degree offers me no immunity to this common ailment. My case is not a bad one, but I have it nonetheless. As a practicing oncologist for nearly 20 years before taking a generalist's job with the government, I empathized with my patients and became convinced regularly that I, too, had a malignant condition. Once I went so far as to walk into the reading room of my good friend, the local radiologist, and admit that I thought I might have male breast cancer, metastatic to bone, because I had discomfort in both the breast and the anterior knee. The knee films were negative, and the symptoms immediately resolved.
This time it was different. About a year ago, the fasciculations started. At first they were mainly in my calves and occurred after tennis or similar vigorous activity. At this stage, I passed them off as insignificant. But soon they began to spread, first up my legs, then into my torso and my arms, and finally to my face. Night and day, at rest and after exercise, they were there. Thirty seconds rarely elapsed without a twitch somewhere.
Oncologists don't often see amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), but the memories gleaned in medical school of twitching, bedridden patients with tracheostomies were still vivid. Incurable. Untreatable. Invariably fatal. I remembered those words and phrases, but I certainly did not recall reading of any recent positive developments. I became more than a bit frightened. Previously, my thoughts of impending death had never lasted for more than a few hours, but these persisted from days to weeks to months. I was able to function; I continued to see patients and dealt with them in a professional, competent, and caring manner. Between patients, however, my thoughts turned to my own body as well as to my family and friends, who I might soon be forced to leave. I thought a lot about the physicist Steven Hawkings and figured that if I were lucky, I, too, could live a long time in a wheelchair with at least the use of a single finger. I wondered whether I could afford the special computer that allows Hawking to translate his finger movements into written and audible words.
I was living in southern Asia when the fasciculations began. I had almost no access to the recent medical literature, and the country had no highly skilled neurologists. Even if it had, I was not about to go to a neurologist. As an oncologist, I always thought it best that pancreatic cancer be diagnosed after death. In my opinion, ALS is the neurological equivalent of pancreatic cancer. I was willing to sacrifice the distinct possibility of learning that I did not have this fatal illness to avoid the equally distinct possibility of learning that I did. The anxiety of not knowing was preferable to the despair of knowing the worst.
I did have an old copy of Brain's Neurology. As I recall, it said something like "most fasciculations are caused by motor neuron disease," but it also said that "rarely do the fasciculations precede weakness." I had not had any real weakness that I had noticed, but that made me decide to test myself. I hadn't done a push-up since my Army days in 1959. I did 15 the first day, and 1 more every day for about a month. I was no Olympian, but I did well enough. Using the rheumatologist's simple test of grip strength, I inflated the bag of the sphygmomanometer to 20 and squeezed it; I moved 300 mm Hg without trying too hard. Every day I repeated this exercise, sometimes a few times--the result was always 300. I was certainly not grossly weak. Wasting occurs with ALS, especially in the hands. I spent an inordinate amount of time examining my hands. I once saw a fold in the hypothenar eminence of the left hand that I hadn't remembered being there before. I returned to the squeeze bag: Still 300, but who knows, maybe, in my case, the wasting would precede my paralyzed slide into oblivion. I tested my reflexes, looking for the hyperreflexia that accompanies motor neuron disease. Perhaps that knee jerk was a bit brisk, I would think, and maybe those hand cramps that I get when I use chopsticks aren't meaningless after all. My anterior horn cells began to dominate my thought processes.
Two or 3 months later, my tour of duty in southern Asia was over; several weeks of home leave in California were to precede my resettlement to southeast Asia. Obviously, California has many neurologists, including some of my old friends. I had decided not to seek an appointment with any of them. Why, I asked myself, should I have an electromyography if my outcome will in no way be affected by the results? I had also had enough experience in my medium-sized community to remember the community's response when one of its physicians developed a life-threatening illness. I had seen medical confidentiality break down in this kind of situation as often as it was maintained. I did not want to be defined by my illness; I did not want to be known as Dr. Hill, Who Has ALS.
I did more push-ups and played lots of tennis; there was still no weakness 6 months later. I didn't have a pressure cuff, but I could still open the jelly jar when my wife couldn't. Even with these good signs, the twitching hadn't gotten any better; maybe it was a bit worse. I was pretty sure of the diagnosis. I became neither depressed nor angry. I became obsessed but, surprisingly, tv kept my obsession almost exclusively to myself.
Cal Ripken was about to surpass the record of Lou Gehrig. I was on a plane between Los Angeles and Washington, D.C., and the man next to me had a copy of USA Today. I saw a headline about Gehrig; the subheadline alluded to a new drug for the disease that he had made famous. The New England Journal of Medicine or Annals of Internal Medicine it wasn't, but I was prepared to read anything that might give me hope. Eventually, I mustered the courage to ask my neighbor if I could just borrow the sports section for a minute. The article disappointed me; it contained nothing of clinical significance.
My usually imperturbable wife, who is well aware of my hypochondriasis, had ignored my initial undramatic lamentations, but when she saw enough of the twitching she encouraged me, both for my benefit and her own, to talk to her brother-in-law, a neurosurgeon. We did so over a beer in his television room. There was no examination. I didn't even show him my muscles. "Probably benign," he said. I wanted to feel reassured. I did, but not very.
A week later, just before my departure for southeast Asia, my wife and I were on a golfing trip in San Diego. The game wasn't too bad; my drives, always short, weren't any shorter. At the end of a round, I was told that I had an urgent telephone call from the neurosurgeon. Thinking someone in the family had died, I nervously returned the call. He said, "I talked to a neurologist friend and he is concerned. He thinks you should come in for an exam and an EMG. And by the way, does your tongue fasciculate?" He informed me that tongue fasciculations tend to be a more specific indicator of motor neuron disease than fasciculations of the trunk or extremities.
"No thanks," I said to the examination. My reasoning had not changed. The results would in no way benefit me unless they were negative, and the consequences of a positive test result were more than I felt I could handle. I hadn't given any thought to my tongue in decades, but suddenly it was the central focus of my existence. I couldn't see any obvious fasciculations in the mirror, but maybe there was an occasional flicker. Once I saw an unmistakable twitch. I felt doomed.
Why go to Asia, I asked myself, when they will only have to send me back in a few months for custodialy care? Then again, maybe I'll last longer than that. Plus, I had always wanted to see Manila, Hanoi, Phnom Penh, and the other great sights of southeast Asia. And maybe, just maybe, I didn't have ALS after all. That fervent hope of a benign conclusion to the entire matter was always central to my thinking. After all, all of those other illnesses I imagined had disappeared. I went to Asia. In my work during the previous 5 years, I had departed from the United States several times. The goodbyes this time were very different. I felt strongly that many of them would be ultimate farewells, but I said that to no one.
We have a better library here in Manila than we did at my last venue. It contains the 1989 edition of Adams and Victor's Principles of Neurology. Continuing my amateurish attempts at denial, I waited a couple of weeks before opening it. With all due respect to those fine authors, their index could be better. I read the section on ALS, which reinforced the idea that it is most unusual for the fasciculations to antedate the weakness. But unusual does not mean never. I returned to the push-up and squeeze bag ritual. I was no weaker. It wasn't until another fortnight went by that I opened the text again and looked under "fasciculations." There I found the statement, "A simple clinical rule is that fasciculations in relaxed muscle are never (my italics) indicative of motor system disease unless there is an associated weakness, atrophy or reflex change." My response to that simple sentence was like that of a wrongly convicted man when he hears that the governor has just reexamined the evidence and spared him the electric chair.
Since then I have learned that there is a not-uncommon syndrome of widespread, continuous fasciculations that may last for months or even years. It has been described in large part in health professionals, presumably because they know about the malignant potential of muscle twitching and seek medical care accordingly. The rest of the affected population, in its ignorant bliss, thinks that they just have some twitches, not enough of a problem to warrant paying for an office call. The last line in Adams and Victor's description of the syndrome is, "eventual recovery can be expected."
I have replayed the scenario of the past year over and over in my mind. Had I sought medical attention and had I had electromyography early on, I would have spared myself months of emotional distress. I might well have come across a sage neurologist who was fully aware of the syndrome and who could have reassured me even without the invasive test. But that would have been a gamble. On the losing side of that gamble would have been the knowledge that I had a disease that would inexorably take from me my means of movement, then my means of communication with those whom I loved, and then my life. I did not like the odds. I would probably make the same choice again today.
I'm still twitching. I don't squeeze the cuff anymore, and I've ceased doing the push-ups. I don't have Lou Gehrig disease. I am awaiting the next disorder that may cause my premature death.

I guess that none of us can convince any other that they're fine. That will only come with time. It is a personal journey. I wish you all a speedy destination.

Survivor: Cambodia
Ep 1 - After visiting the temples of Siem Reap, the 20 returning castaways were divided into two tribes: Bayon and Ta Keo. At the Marooning, Tayker proves he still has it by winning the extra bag of rice for Ta Keo. As Bayon sets up camp, Al, Alex, JC and Ollie find some alone time together and form a quick alliance for the beginning of the game. Alex isn’t sure he wants to work with the three, though, and goes off on his own, where he finds a clue to the hidden immunity idol, which is revealed to be hidden at the upcoming immunity challenge. Meanwhile, Evan, hoping to dominate this season after things not going his way in Cagayan, plans to work with “old school” players Kelsey and Loren hoping to outsmart them in the end. At the Ta Keo camp, there is a split between those who got started on the camp right away and those who started with strategy. Aurpra wants to implement the same strategy that Evan is, creating an alliance with Jake and Tayker. The rest of the old school players, Demi, Ida, Rick and Thomas, all team up to help each other get far in this new Survivor era. Meanwhile, Biff and Imaan go out in search of an idol and Imaan finds the clue. At the immunity challenge, Ta Keo pulls it off and both Imaan and Alex are able to snag the idol! Both are extremely excited and plan on using them correctly and for themselves. At Tribal Council, strategists Kelsey and Melissa are targeted, with Kelsey unfortunately getting the first boot of Second Chance.
Ep 2 - Belle doesn’t want to be an underdog this season but just got blindsided by the tribe, she is not happy Melissa is still here. Evan and Loren are also upset their ally got voted out. Al, JC, and Ollie are pleased with all the power they now have on Bayon with Alex and Jacky in their back pocket. On Ta Keo, Ida feels her tribe isn’t giving her the respect she deserves and she no longer feels the need to “act fake”. She isolates herself. Jasper feels out of place as the youngest person on the tribe. Imaan worries about being solo while Biff revels in it. Ta Keo wins immunity again, keeping the tribe whole. Before Tribal, Al, JC, and Ollie hope to vote out Jacky but Belle and Melissa aren’t down to do that because they want to work with Jacky. Together they flip it on the three and at Tribal Council, Ollie is blindsided, leaving Al and JC shocked and upset.
Ep 3 - The castaways are split up into THREE new tribes. Jake, Rick, and Thomas join Belle, Jacky and Melissa on Bayon. Alex and JC join Aurora, Biff, Ida and Jasper on Ta Keo. Al, Evan, Loren, Demi, Imaan and Tayker end up on the new Angkor Tribe. On Bayon, Belle and Jacky are happy to be together but don’t like the idea of working with Melissa, who they don’t trust following her (very recent) Worlds Apart game. Rick and Thomas are together without Demi, but know Jake is dependable for their use. On Ta Keo, JC is welcomed right in by fellow Cagayan alum Aurora and Biff while Alex and Jasper reunite. Alex is a bit intimidated by the big strategists on the tribe including himself, Biff, Aurora and Ida. He’s happy he has his idol. On Angkor, everyone gets along while building the new shelter and Demi is excited to work with Al and Loren. Evan hopes he isn’t a threat on this new tribe while Imaan and Tayker team up to find an idol clue and Imaan selflessly gives it to Tayker. At the immunity challenge, Tayker snags the idol successfully and Angkor finishes in first place followed by Ta Keo. After losing the challenge, both alliances on the new Bayon tribe expect for a tie but Rick and Thomas attempt to flip Jacky in hopes for an old school alliance after the merge. Jacky is too loyal to Belle and doesn’t want to be screwed over, so she convinces them to join her and Belle and prove their loyalty by taking out Jake. This works and Jake is blindsided.
Ep 4 - After Tribal Council, the women celebrate for their big move but Belle is still on the fence about working with Melissa. At the Reward Challenge, Thomas won the challenge for Bayon, Demi placed second for Angkor, and JC lost for Ta Keo. When feasting, Rick attempts to humble Melissa during a conversation but she doesn’t like the way he’s speaking to her and she defends herself, leading to an argument. This gives Belle an excuse to remind Jacky that Melissa shouldn’t be trusted. Meanwhile on Angkor, everyone is still getting along well. Imaan is enjoying herself the most, saying this cast and team are superior to her first experience. Everyone seems to enjoy her company. Bayon and Angkor win immunity, sending Ta Keo to Tribal Council for the first time! Ida, who was the caller for the challenge, blames it on everyone else besides her and Biff finally speaks up and blows up on Ida, who in turn feels extremely disrespected and storms off. Biff has had enough time to observe and plot and gets with Aurora and JC in hopes of getting Jasper out because of her many connections in the game (as a result of her dad being the 1st winner). Alex is obviously not on board because of his connections to Jasper and uses the drama to flip it on Biff with Jasper. Biff is shocked to find himself blindsided at Tribal Council.
Ep 5 - At Angkor, Demi isolates herself from the rest of the tribe, hoping to recalibrate her mind and strategy. She wasn’t working with anyone on this tribe and since everyone is getting along she wants to try and figure out the “new” school aspects. Angkor and Bayon both win reward and Ida continues to be silently annoyed at the young players on her tribe. She wants a merge badly. At Bayon, Jacky continues to try and get Belle and Melissa to see eye to eye, with some results. Bayon and Angkor then win immunity. On Ta Keo, Ida and Aurora are ready to flip it on Jasper and get her out for her connections but JC finds himself in a dilemma when Alex and Jasper want to vote out Aurora. He struggles with a decision but sides with Alex and Jasper in the end and Aurora is blindsided.
Ep 6 - Ida is not pleased at all once returning from Tribal and knows it’s only a matter of time before she gets bested by Alex, Jasper and JC. At Bayon, Rick and Thomas feel themselves at the bottom, and Thomas is excited to try and flip someone for good. He tries to work his magic on Jacky but it doesn’t work on her and she shuts him down, wanting to keep the women together. Bayon and Angkor tribes win reward, leaving a very frustrated Ta Keo back at camp with nothing but an extended losing streak. On Angkor, Evan breaks the “happy family” facade of the Tribe and no longer has any interest of working with Al or Loren and is thinking about his longevity in the game. He wants to actually start playing the game and though he likes winning, it blocks strategy. Ta Keo extends their losing streak yet again and are sent back to Tribal Council, where Ida gets voted out.
Ep 7 - The tribes are shuffled one more! On the new Bayon Tribe: Demi, Imaan, Belle, Jacky, Jasper, JC, and Thomas. On the new Ta Keo Tribe: Al, Alex, Evan, Loren, Melissa, Rick, and Tayker. The newly formed Bayon Tribe pulls together the win for a picnic at camp! On Ta Keo, Melissa seems to be ousted by the men but she is used to working with men with big egos so she tries to play it like she would at work. Rick did not want to be swapped with Melissa again and they’ve been butting heads. After Bayon wins immunity, Loren gets excited to finally get the chance to pull off a move, but this rubs his tribe the wrong way. The original Bayon tribe at Ta Keo decide they’ll just stick together and get the other two out, but Loren wants to make a different move because him and Al like Tayker. Rick uses this opportunity to sell the old school vs. new school dynamic to the 3 and they agree to vote out a new schooler. At Tribal Council, Alex and Evan are shocked when Melissa is blindsided by the old school players. Rick is very pleased.
Ep 8 - The tribes officially (and unexpectedly) merge into one tribe: the Orkun Tribe. With no idols played yet this season, Alex, Imaan and Tayker still have their originals going into the merge. Al and JC are reunited and rekindle their alliance. Rick gets to work in getting people on his side for a potential old school alliance, but word is already out about it and the new schoolers aren’t having it once they realize they’re currently outnumbered. Jasper wins the first individual immunity! The consensus is on an old school player to end Rick’s talk, with Rick being an obvious target but instead Belle and Jacky suggest getting rid of Thomas. Alex and Evan are on board, but 4 votes won’t be enough. Meanwhile, Loren has had a bad rep coming into the season given his legendary villain status. Him flipping earlier this season gets his name thrown out by Al and JC to Rick, Thomas and Imaan. At Tribal Council, Jasper flips on Alex and votes for Loren, but it doesn’t matter because they were able to flip Demi, who didn’t want to vote out Loren after being on a tribe with him. Thomas is sent home 7-6.
Ep 9 - Loren thought he could trust Al, but clearly he can not, so he vows to take Al and JC down. The team of Tayker, Jasper, Belle, Rick, Demi, and Loren end up winning reward, where Loren and Tayker try to subtly work something out. Back at camp, Imaan notices the pairs on the tribe (Al/JC, Alex/Evan, Jacky/Belle) and hopes to be able to break them up before its too late. Everyone seems to like her though, so she doesn’t feel like she’s in danger just yet. Alex finds the clue to the hidden idol at the merge camp and ultimately gets his second idol! Demi outlasted everyone to win immunity! This time, Al leads a charge against “nothing but trouble” Loren and Rick, Jasper, Imaan and Demi are all on board. Tayker is also in the conversation, but it seems people forgot he was closer to Loren than people thought. The others make a plan in preparation for a tied vote. At Tribal Council, the votes tie between Loren and Rick. Alex, Evan, Belle, Jacky, Loren and Tayker thought Rick was the least connected player on that side and they were right in taking the gamble; JC changes his vote and Rick is sent home after the re-vote.
Ep 10 - After Tribal, Loren makes a scene at camp as he happily stomps around “I’m still here! You can’t get rid of me!” Al is extremely annoyed and JC succeeds in relaxing him. The team of Al, Demi, Tayker, Evan, and JC win reward! They win a trip to a Survivor spa. Alex is desperate to share that he has two idols with someone, anyone, but he knows from his last game that he should not. During the immunity challenge, there’s a decision to be made on forfeiting for a chance at an advantage in the game. Al, Evan and Tayker jump but Tayker ends up winning the advantage. JC outlasts everyone else to win immunity! Tayker ended up getting the steal-a-vote advantage. The majority voting block from the last vote unites once more to target another person. Loren and Tayker want to target Al but Alex and Evan push for someone else, hoping that they can get rid of Al later. At Tribal Council, Demi flips to the majority and Jasper is blindsided seemingly out of nowhere.
Ep 11 - Al and JC now see where they’re truly at with the tribe after the last few votes, and have to think of something quick. Imaan succeeds in not commenting on it and avoiding any drama, which she’s been good at doing this time around. But Imaan is still concerned about the pairs that remain on the tribe and still thinks splitting them each up would be best. At the reward challenge, the team of JC, Tayker, Evan, Al, and Jacky win a trip to a Cambodian circus! Before the immunity challenge, the castaways are given the chance to forfeit the challenge in exchange for an enhanced shelter with a waterproof roof, courtesy of a construction crew, provided at least five players chose to forfeit. The castaways made their choice without being able to consult each other; Al, Evan, Imaan, Belle and Loren choose to sit out, giving the tribe the enhanced shelter. Of the remaining 5 competing, Demi outlasts everyone for the second time this season! At camp, people question Loren’s decision to sit out given that he keeps receiving votes and being targeted, but no one is aware how close he and Tayker really are. Instead, people are starting to think Loren might have an immunity idol. At Tribal Council, Loren is a target yet again. Al’s campaign to vote out Loren has annoyed some of his tribe-mates, and Loren worked with Tayker to convince everyone else to get Al out next despite Al and JC thinking they had worked their way back in.
Ep 12 - After yet another blindside, JC and Imaan have both had enough. JC questions Alex, who didn’t like how JC chose Al over him after the merge despite their plans to work together. Imaan learns from Tayker that she’s been out of the votes because people are afraid she’ll blow things up. Tayker wins the reward challenge to a local resort! He brings Demi and Loren with him, saying the old school players need some care right now. Jacky feels left out as an old schooler, but Imaan makes her feel better after a heart to heart and Imaan talking about watching her season as a child. Tayker goes on to win immunity! Imaan and Tayker have been protecting each other thus far and want to find a path to the endgame together. Imaan comes to him with the idea to blindside Evan for being sneaky and a wild-card, and he’s on board. However, things don’t go their way at Tribal Council, as Loren is finally voted out as everyone went with JC’s wishes for damage control.
Ep 13 - Now that Loren is gone, Tayker feels the only trustworthy person left to him is Imaan. Clearly on the outside, JC and Demi joke about their position together and end up bonding a lot. Its a loved one visit!! Jacky wins the coveted reward and shares the Survivor barbecue with Imaan, Evan, Demi, Tayker, and with their loved ones. Back at camp, Alex upset at Jacky for not picking him despite his own sister being there and he openly states it with Belle and JC around. Belle is fine with it, having told Jacky not to pick her at the challenge, but Alex wanted to hang out with his sister Ness. Alex and JC are on the same page about targeting Jacky now because of this. At the immunity challenge, JC won for the men and Belle for the women. At camp, Jacky and Belle work to get Alex out after his comments. Alex hears about this and gets Imaan and Tayker to promise that they’re with him for this vote, which they do. At Tribal Council though, Alex and Evan are able to read the room and Alex correctly plays his idol, negating 5 votes. Imaan and Tayker hold onto their idols, expecting Jacky to go, but shockingly Imaan is blindsided with an idol in her pocket!
Ep 14 - Alex feels no need to explain himself to Tayker but he does anyway. Imaan was voted out in case Jacky had an idol, but turns out Jacky doesn’t and finally an idol was played. Evan is a bit upset that Alex didn’t tell him about the idol, but understands. Alex then wins the reward challenge and takes Evan and Demi with him. Together, Alex and Evan try to work Demi onto their side since she is probably a swing vote this round. Demi is enjoying the attention. Back at camp, Belle and Jacky dig into JC’s game, unsure of what his strategy actually is. Tayker stands up for JC and flips it on Belle, who hasn’t done much this season. Belle and Tayker end up getting into an argument about it Demi wins individual immunity for the third time! With the boost from this power, she returns to Alex and Evan and is in on flipping the votes and splitting up Jacky and Belle. Demi manages to convince Tayker since she’s doing it and it would save his advantage for later. Despite wanting to vote out Belle, Tayker goes along with the others and votes Jacky out instead.
Finale, Part 1 - Finale time! Belle is upset. To be left on the outs but she is determined to just win her way to the end. Demi feels in a prime spot for FTC because the men will just eat each other up. However, Alex, Evan and Tayker solidify a final 3 deal. Alex and Tayker both have an idol and Tayker still has his steal-a-vote advantage. At the immunity challenge, Alex wins! The vote should be simple, get Belle out. But on Survivor nothing is ever simple and people are still strategizing. Alex has a feeling Evan might be getting targeted by Belle and JC who now want to weaken him since they’re the last pair known to be a pair. Belle and JC plan for Alex to use an idol on Evan so they vote Tayker instead but not knowing he had an idol. At Tribal Council, Alex plays his idol for Evan and Tayker plays his idol for himself. Even so, Tayker never needed to, as Belle is sent to Ponderosa.
Finale, Part 2 - Alex is frustrated he played his idol incorrectly but he feels safe with Evan and Tayker. Evan wins his first immunity of the season and he is so happy he offers to do all the work around camp. Tayker never used his steal-a-vote and doesn’t think he needs to now, but wants to use it since he has it. JC still wants to work with Alex and comes to him, Evan, and Demi about voting out Tayker who is a huge threat to win. Demi is on board, but Alex and Evan aren’t since they have a final 3 deal with Tayker (and both think they can beat Tayker over JC). Alex is able to change JC’s mind and convince Evan and Tayker to turn on Demi, feeling it’s his best path to the finish line if he chances JC staying one more round. At Tribal Council, Tayker steals JC’s vote and they go along with Alex’s plan to vote Demi out, shocking her.
Finale, Part 3 - After that Tribal, Alex tells JC that Tayker’s power helped him stay and that he can just go next. Tayker wins the final immunity of the season, securing his spot at his second FTC. JC hopes to tie the votes but Alex says he was indebted to Evan more than he was to JC. JC gets voted out by the other 3 and becomes the final member of the jury.
FTC - Alex, Evan and Tayker face the jury. They are all admired for their work in the game and for making it to end on an all returnee season. When asked what their second chances were about and if they achieved that, Tayker said it was about going with the flow of the game and adapting, Evan said it was about maturing from Cagayan and making it to the end, and Alex said it was about having what he calls “hands-off” control of the game to the point where there’s always a bigger threat than him. He just took his biggest threats to the end while using them against each other.
The Reunion: The winner of Survivor: Cambodia Second Chances: Alex wins by a vote of 10-0-0! Unanimous!!! Everyone thought he had the best strategic game. Tayker was a strong force but didn’t control votes the way Alex did. Evan was seen as someone who was just working with Alex and didn’t make a big move by himself. Loren Cruz wins the Fan Favorite!
